Rep Power: 17 | Moving to upgraded salon We are finally ready to move into our new salon. We purchased an existing salon that was kind of a dump and will be moving the customers only into our new salon within our video store. The question is how do I retrain customer's mindsets who are used to going 20 minutes in an 11 year old ETS bed and put them into new 15 minute Ergoline beds. The new beds are more than twice as powerful and I expect alot of customers will still want to go the max time. We will also be changing from minutes to points to accomodate upgrades easier. Any clever suggestions? Steve |

Rep Power: 29 | Re: Moving to upgraded salon How do you figure it's "twice as powerful"? beds are rated TIME TO BURN so a 15min max = 20min MAX. Same thing. If they were going fulltime in your old beds they should be able to do full time in the new beds. |

Rep Power: 25 | Re: Moving to upgraded salon SteveO - First, you explain that these are 15 minute beds rather than 20 minute beds because they use stronger lamps. That is true - there is more UVB designed to get to 4 MEDS in 15 minutes rather than 20. Second, you explain that the beds are new with brand new lamps which means they are particularly strong at first. Then - you "control" the exposure time. You NEVER ask "how long do you want to go today". You TELL them how long they will go today - based on their skin type, tanning history, etc. Do a little experimenting at first. My guess is a "regular" customer who was going 20 before in the old beds will be fine to do at LEAST 10 the first time in these. Have them start there, see how they do. If no red - bump them up to 12 minutes the next time. Keep going until you get them up to the Full 15 minutes. If they appear VERY tan -- can probably start them at 12-13 even. On the other hand, if they appear fairly pale - back them down to 8. Most people, unless they are type 2 and very fair -- will be able to do at least 7-8 in an initial visit. Climb 2 minutes at a time until they get to the full exposure. If they get "pink" anywhere along the way, keep them at that time for a few visits or have them wait a day or two. Same thing applies to your upgrade beds. Start slow, move up a minute or two at a time. If they move up from a lower level, cut them back 2 minutes or so on the upgrade until you see how they do there. Congratulations on your salon! |

Rep Power: 20 | Re: Moving to upgraded salon We do exactly what SunSally said above. We have all Erogline beds and anyone that comes in new we do not let them go full time. If they have been tanning regularly we tell them all beds are different and it's better to be safe than sorry so we start them off a few minutes lower and then ask them everytime they come in how they did and adjust their time accordingly. Have had some complain but not many and then the ones that have complained have thanked us later because once they use the bed and realize it's stronger than what they have been in they are glad we didn't let them go the max time at first. |
