Rep Power: 0 | It finally happened to me Well, I got a call at around 10:30 this morning from one of my customers that has my cell phone number. He said he was sitting outside the salon and no lights were on and no one was in there and the door was still locked. He said many customers were walking up to the door than walking away. My opening girl did not show up, did not call..and we open at 9 on Sundays. Luckily another employee was able to get there but not until 11:00ish. I have left this girl 2 messages, no call back. This is an employee I would have never expected this from. Needless to say, she is fired now. Now I am dealing with some ****** off customers... |

If for "any" reason the are terminated,(not if they quit with a 2 week notice or are laid off) they recieve their final compensation at the current minimum wage rate. I know that is not a huge difference (at least for my tanning employees) but it lets them know from the beginning not to screw around. I have spoken to a payroll specialist and he stated as long as it was disclosed it was legal. I don't know how well this works because I have only implemented it 1 time, but it made me feel better when I fired the dude for stealing. |

Rep Power: 21 | Re: It finally happened to me I had an employee who walked out on her shift. When she left I tried to contact her and she did not answer so I left a message on her phone that she was fired and when she turns in her key she will receive her final pay check. She filed for unemployment and was granted, so I appealed and almost did not win...until I was able to show that the employee had no intentions of returning to work her shift and that I had given her a fair opportunity..ie I was able to show written warning documentation to show that there has been problems and she was given the full benefit to correct these issues. You may not be able to win your appeal if you did not give your employee a written notice that her actions were wrong. Unfortunatly now days you need to cover your a$$ and have everything in writing. Also if you included that in your employee manual about leaving prior to the shift was over and she signed it then that would cover you too. But good luck plat. |
