Lotion sales for employees

I am a manager for a chain of salons and we have been having a difficult time getting the employees to sell lotion. We offer them commission, I educate them on all new releases and they have information readily accessible for further education. When they are trainined they are educated on how to properly sell the product and why it is beneficial to use the lotion. But I still cannot get them to sell. I have one employee and myself that sell the majority of the lotion for 3 salons, but it should be more. Can you please help me on what you do to get the employees to SELL SELL SELL.

Thank you.

Re: Lotion sales for employees

it is harder to sell off season, not to make excuses for them but, I offered mine a bonus if they hit a certain $$ amount on top of commision. just an idea. offer some kind of incentives.

Re: Lotion sales for employees

commission is a good way.....or perhaps offer a prize at the end of each month to the top seller(s) like concert tickets, gift certificate, money etc....cost you the same as commission but only one gets it and they have to be motivated all month keep thee eye on the prize...might cause some competition but competition is healthy and motivating......:)

Re: Lotion sales for employees

I would run a monthly contest against the other sites for movie tickets etc.

Re: Lotion sales for employees

For November we did whoever had the highest amount of lotion sales got a $100 gift card to walmart. Helps with the holidays. We also do commission and sales goals for smaller incentives. I Honestly hate doing it though, I agree with Brandy if you dont' sell you don't work and if you continue to sell then you get to keep your job, thats the best prize.

Re: Lotion sales for employees

Yep. I do sales contests too. But those should be to boost sales not to give them incentive just to sell. Part of their job descriptions should be to sell a certain amount. If not, then they are not doing their job.

Re: Lotion sales for employees

I've considered doing you only get comission if you reach a certain amount, but I figured they might stroke out on me, plus sometimes its hard to gauge sales, its so up and down at times
