Rep Power: 0 | What to do about an Employee who might be giving out free tans Each morning, I check the FST against the computer and appointment sheet. On most days, it checks out ok. On some days, it will be off by no more than one. When I checked yesterday morning (yes, I was here for a couple of hours on Thanksgiving), it was off by 3. It didn't end there, the employees are required to write down if another employee comes in for a tan. The Wednesday evening employee wrote down that another employee was there. I happened to talk to the employee that "was there for a tan" and just asked, "Oh how was your night last night". She also works in a night club. Not knowing why I was asking states, "oh it was crazy. I was at the mall from 2-7, then from then to the club from 7 to 2am). I know the mall and the club are no where near the salon here. So that means instead of being off by 3, it's really more like 4 because this girl wasn't here for a tan. Now before you all say, "Fire her". I do know that she cares for her job. She has been here for a long time. She is on top of her game here making sure that it's always clean and very nice to the clients and tries to sell up when possible. So considering all this, I just wanted some feedback on what to do with her, but I have a feeling what the jury is going to say...

I don't care how good she is at selling, cleaning, sucking up, etc. She is stealing from you. What is your question again???

But, the good news is, she has changed her way of thinking. She is now back working for me at another business and doing a great job. Peer pressure of friends begging for freebies and the thought that "oh, it's just a tan. It doesn't cost much." takes a lot of training from you to overcome. Still, I have zero tolerance for stealing.
