Rep Power: 103 | Re: Best salon hours...?! You see that it varies by area and by season. You will have to see what works for you. Start off with long hours, early to late. Track tanners by the hour and see what makes sense to you. For example, do you have night shift factory workers getting off at 7 am and coming to tan? If so, they won't wait around til 8 or 9 to tan. They will go down the street to the competition that is open. On the other hand, if you open at 7 and only have 2 tanners before 9 am, you need to adjust your hours. Even if those 2 tanners go somewhere else, it isn't worth being open 2 extra hours for 2 tanners. Welcome to the tanning business and good luck.

Rep Power: 25 | Re: Best salon hours...?! Initially - especially now - you are NOT going to be very busy, so it'll seem a drag to be open long hours.... On the other hand, can't figure out what your "clientele" wants if you aren't open to see when they come. Look at: 1. When the other stores in your "strip" open 2. What the others of the other salons of your market are 3. What the hours of the businesses around you that might provide customers are (e.g. like Billable said - any hospitals, factories, etc that might have 3rd shifters?) I know salons that open as early as 6:30 in season, and ones that stay open until Midnight. Personally, we don't open until 10, but we are in a very "suburban" market where nobody around us (other businesses in our strip) opens before 10 either and we have a very slow morning crowd. We are about to get a grocery that will be open 24 hours, and that will likely change our hours some too. Weekends tend to be slowest in almost every market. Saturdays they are more likely to get out "early" -- then again later. Early afternoon is always dead for us. Sundays is a little more "steady" -- but the least traffic day of the week by far. Good luck! |
