Membership holds - tanTALK

I have a custmer that is giving me a hard time. She is going out of town for a week and wants me to put her monthly membership on hold for the week. I had done it for her before because of a medical reason and now she expects me to do it for her while she is on vacation. She says all of the other salons she has ever gone to have done it. I personally have never heard that. If I put everybody's membership on hold because the go out of town I will be out of business. Do other salons do this or is she trying to get over???

We use Tan Track for everything, and there is a feature on there to put packages on vacation hold. We will do it up to two weeks. Medical holds are a case by case basis. We do it just bascially to make them happy.

How long has she been with you?? Does she seem like she would go somewhere else to tan that quickly? You have to feel it out. If you sense she is trying to take advantage of you, don't do it. I personally wouldn't do it either way. I would explain to her that you made an ACCEPTION due to her physical condition but a friggin vacation don't cut it.

just make it a policy, do vacation holds or don't. and then tell her, its your policy

Besides her vacation was most likely planned before she even bought the package...tell her medical and emergency reasons only.

Thanks for the input everyone. CTM...I was thinking the exact same thing. Plus she tried to lie about it. First she told my GF that is was a vacation and then she told me it was a family emergency. When I called her on it she said it was a vacation.

Why do people buy a monthly package knowing they are going out of town in 2 weeks?
