Does anyone have gnats in the salon? - tanTALK

We have been open for 9 years now, and this is the first year that gnats have invaded the salon. At dusk they seem to take over the salon and the first couple rooms the customers are bombarded with the gnats. They seem to like the lamps. Does anyone else have this problem or does anyone know how to get rid of them? I called Ehrlich the pest control and they told me to use a bug lamp next to our door. Gee, that looks really attractive. Watch and listen to us zap bugs while you wait to tan. Please help! They are nasty.

Oh Yeah! We get them every year. It makes me sick cause they get in the beds. Our newest bug to take over is the pincher and some of those fly. first thing in the morning you open the door and a few fall on the ground. Now we have them at our house on the other side of town.

How do you stop them from flying on the customers as they are tanning. I had customers tell me that they dive bomb them.

Gnats are attracted to dead tissue. No offense, but maybe you need to work harder on the cleaning.

and they are attracted to food, make sure your trash is always being empty and food is NOWHERE!

Also, gnats will be attracted to damp areas. Maybe carpets. LOWES sells some new bug sprays made by Bayer now. Lasts three months, non staining and no smell. Maybe spray the corners and floor to wall edges of all your rooms. Might help.

Set off a few of those aerosol bombs in the salon one night after you close and see if it helps get rid of the problem.

the bug spray will ruin the acrylics on your tanning beds.
