What kind of music do y'all have playing? The old owners played classic rock, my employee just sits here in silence (like a dope).... I'm leaning towards new-age/ ambiant stuff. Anyone have any preference? Or anything that is tried & true?

we have xm radio and go between channel 26 - current hits nothing heavy and channel 23 - the heart LOVE SONGS!!!

Dunno what its like where you all are but hip-hop is big here... I'll bet if I went & checked the boomboxes, most would be set to hip-hop stations... I was def. considering that, as well as club/ dance music.... there are a LOT of clubs in my neighborhood.

But I think what I'm asking is do you use music to set a mood in your salon or is it just background 'wallpaper?' And if you are using as part of your overall atmosphere, what is that? ummmm, maybe another way to phrase it is does your salon have a motif and do you use music to add to that?

(is this a dumb question? I guess I do have more important things to think about, don't I...)

Do you have to get a more expensive "comercial" subscription or just the one any consumer can buy?

Rap is for Afro/Latino $200 beaters with $5000 sound systems. Country is for pick up trucks and beer joints.

Run XM through AOL it's free, ... I have also been playing my Ipod and it is awesome. Everyone loves the music here
