Rep Power: 19 | Employee question I have 3 girls working for me. 2 are in high school (yes, I know that's the problem) and 1 is in college. 1 of the high school girls is training to be a dental assistant and got an internship with a dentist's office. She gave me one day notice that she could not work during her spring break because she had to train for her internship that week. I told her that was fine, I understood; that is going to be her career. The following week she told one of the other girls to tell me that she couldn't work because she was still in training. Very unprofessional and I could not get a hold of her to tell her that she needed to call ME and let me know. When I finally did talk to her I told her that I understood about her training but she still had a committment to me and needed to take responsibility for calling me herself. So the following week she did the same thing! I was ****** and so were the other girls but they helped me out and filled in for her. So before I made the schedule I called her to make sure that she could work. I only gave her 2 days because of her irresponsibility and the fact that she was so inconsiderate to me and the other girls. Now she is *****ing everyone (but she won't tell me to my face) that if she is only scheduled for 2 days next week she is quitting. Should I just go ahead and fire her? Only give her 2 days again so that she will quit? She is a good worker, but creates a lot of drama between the other 2 girls. I had to have a meeting with them and explain to them that this is not high school, this is work, and I have a business to run and expect them to be professional about it. I am considerate of them, I treat them with respect and expect the same of them. So what should I do? |

Rep Power: 92 | Re: Employee question If you can get by without her, I'd let her go (maybe just cut her schedule so she will quit if it will save you some unemployement $) you don't need that poison around the others and if you've warned her, then buu-bye.
