Rep Power: 19 | Appointments, or not? We currently take appointments, but we have started having alot of no-shows. How can we minimize no-shows? Or should I stop taking appointments altogether. Because right now I have every bed booked all day long, except early mourning and late at night. We take a will call list everyday to call people if someone cancels. I'm afraid to go with just walk-ins, but it may be the right thing to do. Pls offer any advice you have. |

Rep Power: 20 | Re: Appointments, or not? we do walk in only for these reasons.... we had a lot of no shows too, people get really mad if you take the tan off their account if they no show. They tell you that you made the mistake and they never made the appointmet... also it was really frustrating if someone showed up and said they had an appointment but their name wasn't down and we had nothing open, an honest mistake, but the customer gets really upset. We are lucky because we have 23 rooms so we can do walk in. When customers call and ask to make an appointment we always tell them that we are walk in only so they can come in when it is convienent for them. They really like the walk in thing... i recommend giving it a try. When i was younger i worked at a salon that went from apts to walk in, at first some people complained but honestly in the long run it worked better. That way you aren't holding beds for people who don't show up or show up late and get ****** when they can't go the full time... |

Rep Power: 21 | Re: Appointments, or not? We do both. Currently we have more walkins though than appointments. People are finally getting the hang of making appointments and sticking with them. We have only had a couple of people that have been a no show/no call. We don't wait beyond about 3-4 minutes until the bed is given away to someone that is waiting. |

Rep Power: 130 | Re: Appointments, or not? We do both as well. We have the no show problem as well. I charge the walk in price of that bed for a no show! I could have potentially made that money in that time. If they show late I deduct the time accordingly (if they tan max amount and dependent on the bed) . I have some people that NEVER miss an apt. and when they do and I honestly worry, but then you have the ones that go out snowmobiling and opps forget to call. Well I didnt forget to open so that doesn't fly, but thanks for the honesty. I wrote it into my release form and make them sign it. I put the reason we are a sml salon of 6 beds and we see 100 or more clients a day and if you called and really wanted a certain bed it wouldn't be fair to you if someone tied it up and no showed. When you show them how it could affect them they seem to understand. I also do the same thing as Sun Etc. you miss so many sorry you no longer get that book ahead privlidge. If I had like 20 beds no appts is a great option but with only 6 beds and there all very different, i have to offer apt. I also prefer new starts to be apts. because the salon tour, explaining the salon and how we operate, plus the beds takes a while and I dont want to rush a potential client. Do a no show fee. They will learn. |

Rep Power: 130 | Re: Appointments, or not? Oh and one other way I explained it was you get charged a late fee on rented movies correct? Well the same principal applies to us if your not here we can't utilize the bed. |
