Re: CAN YOU REFUSE SERVICE TO A DRUG ADDICT

It is EASY, print a sign.....

We have the right to refuse service to anyone.

Your a business owner, you can and do have the right to refuse service. That simple.

She can't be too bad if she has money to tan and get her nails done. If someone shadey looking comes in I always say I'm booked until 8pm because by then they'll have forgotten all about tanning and spent their money. I also quote the most expensive package.

Re: CAN YOU REFUSE SERVICE TO A DRUG ADDICT

I would check with your local laws, but I believe so. I had a girl try to sue me for burning her. She called 4 days after her initial visit - after we had a beautiful hot 4th of July weekend a few years ago. I asked her to come in and see me. She never did - got a letter from her lawyer 6 months later asking for $5K. My lawyer sent her a letter back and then I never heard from her. I moved the salon last year and changed the name. Guess who came back in to tan this spring? You guessed it. I have it noted on her acct and her husbands that they are not allowed to tan. You should have seen their face when I promptly told them that. They asked why and I told them - They couldn't get the door fast enough. I then called another salon and told them who they were and they could use their own judgement as to whether they wanted "sue-happy" tanners in their salon. We work too **** hard to have low-lifes come in and try to take us to the cleaners. My insurance agent said they would pay the claim also - I told him "Oh no you're not!"

Yup, you own it, you can refuse service.

As for "dropping a dime" on anyone remember, what goes around, comes around.

As for insurance companies, the blood suckers, they'll pay on those types of claims so they can jack the average rates up. They justify their rate increases based on these types of claims PLUS their overhead, PLUS their profit margin added.

Re: CAN YOU REFUSE SERVICE TO A DRUG ADDICT

You have the right to refuse service without explanation. If she is a crackhead think of the liability you could possibly face - what if she happens to od while at your salon, passes out getting out of the bed, so many bad things could happen.

I wouldn't chance it. I had a client (FORMER!!!) overheard talking to another client in the salon about going out to her car and smoking pot. The next time the client came in I politely explained that our salon does not condone illegal activity within the salon or its' surrounding premises and that her business was not welcome there. I am not about to sacrifice my business for someone else's illegal activies.

Exactly Right! That is why I told them not to pay the claim. They raise our rates without cause - can't imagine if I had a claim.

Re: CAN YOU REFUSE SERVICE TO A DRUG ADDICT

Refuse service......to anyone you're not comfortable with. Unfortunatley i know a little too much about drug addicts as my son is a recovering addict. Especially if there a know user......don't even allow them in your store !!!!

Re: CAN YOU REFUSE SERVICE TO A DRUG ADDICT

yep. Throw them out...or better yet, take her money, make sure the NO REFUNDS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES sign is in plain view, then when she ****** in your garbage (cause it's ABSOLUTELY GOING TO HAPPEN) throw her out and threaten to call the cops. She's most likely under some kind of probation and the cops arriving is NOT in their best interest.

Free money IMO.

Tell me I'm not a genius.
