Rep Power: 19 | Sponsership of Athletes/Models/Bodybuilders Hello, My name is Adam Sand, this is my first post on the forum, I have read a lot of the information in the newbie section and found it to be a great resource for me. I have thus decided to join. A little about me, I own a Salon (one of four that I am building this year) in West Edmonton Mall, within Gold's Gym. West Edmonton Mall is the largest mall in the world, with close to 30,000 employees and over 60,000 people walk through its 880 (64% dedicated solely to women) stores a day. In addition there is a waterpark, amusement park, indoor bungee jump, theatres, and much more. This is why I have decided to make it my first location, although leases are high, being the first and only Tanning Salon within the first and only Gym in the mall, I believed its probability of success to be high with the work and dedication it takes to run a business. I have other businesses as well but this is my main project at this point. My question is in regards to everyones opinions on Sponsership of athletes. I own a high performance ATV company that builds race and extreme 4x4 quads and sponsership of racers and freestyle jumpers to be very good in the ways of building brand and business. Now what is your opinion on this same principle in Tanning? We have a few great body builders within the gym, at least to me who is simply healthy muscular, but not 300 lbs, and there is buzz within the gym that a few of them might ask me for some sponsership in the ways of free tanning. Have any of you ever sponsered Bodybuilders/athletes/models? If so, how do you qualify them to be a good investment? What do you feel is a better investment? Athletes like Football or other major sports that get a lot more viewing? Bodybuilders that might get a larger more "unattacked" audience (men) interested in Tanning? Or models that basically get the attention of a lot of women as well as men? What kind of sponsership arrangment would/have you done? Free tanning, free tanning and lotion, free tanning and deals on lotion? What would you expect from a sponsered athlete? Should the bodybuilder wear a gold'n tan g-string? I hope I have asked all the normal questions, if there are other flashing red lights surrounding this topic that it seems I have overlooked, let me know. After that, thanks for all the help that I do recieve from this thread, and I look forward to talking to you all! Adam Sand

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Sponsership of Athletes/Models/Bodybuilders I guess I will be the first to welcome you! As far as this subject goes, I live in a small town, so there really aren't many "well known" models or athletes in myarea. From what I am reading of your post is that you have sponsored the jumpers and freestylers for your atv business and I'm sure you did that not only monetarily but also we able to use your logo on many different aspects in the competition. As far as models or the body builder aspect.......you would have to think of what kind of marketing they could do for you besides actually answering the question of "Where do you tan?". A body building competition is one avenue that you can maybe have them wear a sweatsuit with your name/logo. A model would actually be doing work for who is paying her and I don't think that they would accept someone piggybacking on their promotion. A famous athlete could come to your salon and sign autographs but I think they would want more than just "free tanning"........they would want paid unless you did some kind of charity donation along with it. These are just a few brief ideas/dillemas that I can think of. Again, welcome and good luck to you! |

Rep Power: 24 | Re: Sponsership of Athletes/Models/Bodybuilders I have did a few different things along this line...lots of models/bodybuilders/actors and a reality tv girl. Do I find I get clients from it-a few. Is it worth while-sure it is. I tan em for free, they buy lotion. They say my name- I attend the functions they are showing themselves at. I give them a T shirt to wear at their leisure. Tan them enough to make them look good ,but not to abuse you..
