24 Hour between Tan Time! - tanTALK

How many people have customers that come in 15 or 20 minutes before the complete 24 hours and expect you to tan them? We have our software set up to be exact 24 hours and it doesn't allow the employees to tan anyone before hand. How hard is it to understand this? I have customers tell me it is my responsibility not there's to tell them. I have a 4 yr. old at home that is all my responsibility. If I need to take care of them, I want there social security # and they will be my write off.

you HAVE to wait the full 24 hours? is the state regs or just your software?

if it's just your software, i would change the settings to once a day, instead of once every 24 hours

i can't imagine having my lunch hour tanners sit & wait 10 minutes, 20 minutes because they are a little earlier than the day before!

PHD, I have broke the 24 hour rule many times myself (as a tanner) and I am a salon owner. I would definately change your software or your going to lose customers. Obviously if they were burnt from the day before, I would make them hold off but I wouldn't get that picky with it. JMO.

Yeah as long as it is the next day I wouldn't nit pick to much on the 24 hour thing. People will get ****** off and goto another salon.

Well especially when they are trying to get use to the bed I would rather see a client go in a bed for 6 min to start and come back the next day with no color and move up to 8. Then someone go for 20 first time and not come back for a week for being burnt I think the 20 min girl did more damage then the girl who came back in less then 24 with no color. I will not let them tan under no circumstances twice in the same day and I do not let them come in at 8 p.m. and come back at 6 a.m. the next day

what about the salons that are in regulated states? Do you stick by the 24 hour? We never did until this year, our state is going regulated in the next couple months and we wanted to get customers used to the whole 24 hour before it happens.

depends on how strict your state is going to be! some states are regulated but "never checked up on" you might want to let us know what state you are in and maybe someone can give better advice.........good luck

I am in NJ. I spoke to the gentleman who heads the whole committee regarding the bill that is going through. The board of health will be checking the salons. From what he has said the salons need to register with the state, employees need to trained and certified, they are even talking about taxing tanning services.

ps my board of health only came 1 time in 3 yrs and that was because i just bought it. she was also very impressed with my salon being correct/clean/trained (in regards to the regulations) compared to most in my state ....~patting myself on the back~
