Rep Power: 21 | Yes I would allow 16 or 17 yr olds to work, if they would......Bad experiences with this age so I only hire older employees (not too old). Seems the younger ones don't want to do anything but talk on their cell phones and color in the coloring books!!! just my experience! |

Rep Power: 25 | Needinfo101 - In some states, you must be 18 to be certified. To work the computer and work alone in the salon, you must be 18. So many owners/managers will not hire under 18 because they don't have the flexibility to be able to work a shift solo. |

The only time I hire younger is during spring season for bed cleaners. Generally this is for 3-4 months. Some of my younger employees have come back for 2 or 3 seasons and I have hired a couple permanently after they were 18. |

Rep Power: 0 | Agree with yoco -- the young ones don't know how to work, can't sell to adults, have their friends hanging around the salon, etc. Have had much better results with older staff. They relate better to the customers who are spending money with us. My sales are up -- even this year -- and I know that's why. Downside -- the young ones work for peanuts, the grown-ups want more compensation. |

Rep Power: 0 | Labor laws also (may be dif from state to state), When & how many hours a school age kid can & cant work. I only hire 18 & older for that reason. Also, company policy keeps cell phones OFF & out of sight, no personal calls(unless emergency), & "IF YOU GOT TIME TO LEAN, YOU GOT TIME TO CLEAN". |

Rep Power: 0 | I'll only hire 16 - 17 for bed cleaners. I dont feel right leaving them alone in the salon, plus my customers expect a very high level of service that is almost immpossible to get from a teenager. My older clients can not connect with someone that young, therefore they wont spend $$$$ with them. |
