Rep Power: 23 | I went downt to the salon last night, I hadnt been there but once or twice this week. I got so Mad and Frustrated! The place was dirty. Dont get me wrong, not like pig-sty, but I swept out the tanning rooms, and you wouldnt believe all the dirt I got out! And we were SLOW yesterday, so all that didnt happen yesterday. There were lotion spots on the floors. OH, I was livid! I think I'm too nice and the girls walk all over me. I'm not down there much, so I think take advantage of that. Well, I did some cleaning first, then went home and made a new, detailed cleaning list. No more day shift does this, night shift does this. Everyone does everything everday! And I told them I am making numerous inspections. If I catch anything dirty on their shift, they are responsible. I said that if someone else isnt doing their part, they need to have words with them personally, or let me know and I will have words with the person. If I find things unclean on their shift, they are going to lose part of their commissions. If that doesnt work, I will fire them! I am upset with them! I have a good group of girls in every other aspect, but cleaning is essential in this business. What do you guys do to keep the salon clean? |

Rep Power: 34 | Tropicgirl I am so here with you. I have been having this problem myself. So I was nice, like I ALWAYS am, and mentioned how importnant being clean is, they just where not getting it, so my solution was to say to them " OK you guys must be totally exhausted! I notice how you where having trouble keeping things clean, so to give you some much needed rest I have cut back your hours." AMAZING how FAST they got back what they needed to keep it clean over the next 2 weeks I will slowly start to give them back hours as long as they are giving 110% percent to their work. And if they slack again I will have to let them go. With all that said they are doing a MUCH better job Try it out and see if it works for you. And when YOU pick up thier hours your customers will LOVE seeing you! |

Rep Power: 23 | Its hard because I dont work there much at all. I have a full time job, until the salon makes enought to support itself and my family bills. (If ever) Anyway, I think its much harder for us absentee owners. I only live 4 miles away and pop in sporatically, but thats obviously not working. I am going to set time aside and go down there for nothing more than to inspect the place. Do you think employees should be rewarded for good upkeep, or not because it really is part of their job. Do you think they should just be punished for not doing it. Or both? |

Rep Power: 34 | I agree totally with Coconut! They ARE rewarded by doing thier job, they get to KEEP thier job! NO BS needed at work! Do YOUR JOB is it! You have to do something, because believe me, if they are not keeping your salon clean, and I mean spotless, you WILL lose customers, that is a FACT! The number one thing when it comes to tanner and salon is they want it to be clean! |

Rep Power: 23 | Completely. Sometimes I think they forget they are getting paid because they are busy watching the cable I pay for, reading the magazines I pay for, doing there school work, etc. Must be nice! I told them they are not getting paid to watch tv or anything else they are doing, like one girl doing wedding stuff. I told them, from now on, no tv, radio, books, or anything in the morning until the store is in tip-top shape |

Rep Power: 0 | I think they should be rewarded verbally or with a little note that everyone else can see when they do good work. However it seems like when you get a lazy one there is no amount of reasoning, threats, or begging that can get them to understand the importance of a clean salon. Get rid of the lazy ones ASAP, or they will cause you all sorts of agony! |
