I'm looking for a few suggestions on how I can keep track of spray tans that are done with my airbrush system so I can feel confident that employees aren't spraying their friends for free when MGT isn't around.

we have SunTouch & check them in as they were tanning in a room......lock up your gun a night!!

At night it's not an issue. It's during the day when it's slower and only one staff person is needed.

We have Helios and we do check each person in as they come in. Of course this doesn't stop an employee from simply escorting a friend into the room and cranking up the machine without entering anything in.

Have you tried a security camera?

SunSplash-HI 06-01-2005 02:02 PM

No, we haven't tried a security camera. I've considered that and think it's a good idea, though ideally I was hoping for something more preventive so we don't have to look through the security recordings everyday trying to decypher if someone is legitimately getting a spray or if it's a free buddy spray.

We've considered trying to measure out a certain amount of juice and putting "single serving sizes" into sealed containers, though in reality everyone is a different size and I suspect that would get complicated.

Right now I'm the only one that does spray tanning.. I thought about that also.
I take my spray gun apart when I'm finished and clean it...and I dont put it back together until I', ready to use it again.. Put the pieces back a certain way..They dont know that...

I meant to say that I put all the parts on the shelf a certain way.
I think I need a nap..

We put a camera out at one point, before we got our "real" security system up and running. Employees thought it was on, and didn't even realize it was not hooked up. Cut down on a lot of missing things. The office is always locked when I'm not there, and no one has the key, so they just assumed I could watch it anytime.
Also, isn't there an average number of sprays that one container will do? I don't have one yet, so I am not sure, but it seems like one company told me you can spray about 45 customers with one gallon? My numbers could be way off, and I apologize if they are. But, either way, whatever system you have, you should be able to find out average sprays per gallon, and kind of look at it that way. When you get your next gallon, compare how many paid visits you had compared to when you run out of solution. That way you can see if you had less pay then what you should have.

There is an average number of sprays per gallon, but in reality it varies by quite a bit depending on the size of the person and what they wear. For example, we have one customer that's about 6'8" and he's quite broad as well. Then we have some customers who are maybe 5' and 90 lbs. The guy probably takes 3 times as much spray as that girl. Older people often wear more than younger. Some only want their visible parts sprayed. Others don't want their face, etc. In short, there isn't a consistant average for us.
