Ok here is the info….. I am a computer programmer. I’ve been part owner / manager of the family tanning salon and we have sunlync as our computer software. The prob is sunlync’s software really is crap. It has holes threw out the whole program, it is not very user friendly, and it needs to allow you as a manager or employee do a lot more. So me and two of my friends have begun to write our very own tanning software in one of our classes. My question to you is what does your software do now that you love and what do you wish it could do. Your info would be greatly appreciated that way we can make an outstanding tanning software. Who knows if our software works the way we plan you might see it on the market one day “I wish” So thanks for your info…. |
My only serious requirement? NO WINDOWS I want it to print the cards...consecutive feed slip style...that's another big deal for me... |
I would be happy to provide feedback and test out your product once you have created it. I am a small salon with 6 units, and don't need the high end, high priced softwared that is out there. I presently am using a product from http://www.xtremeblue.com/. It is a very basic program, but build on MS Access. You may want to look at it for a good starting point. Like I said it is basic, but does provide what I need at the moment, and there is no monthly fees. |
Sweda Guy you mean print the cards? and Sunbody1 I checked out that software. You are correct it is really basic… this software that we are making is all about the user it will be very simple and very pleasant on the eye. We are trying to make every aspect of the program as simple as possible because we understand that young users will be using it. I will continue to post our progress so if you have anything you would really like it to do just tell us and we will see what we can do. |
Ya, that's the thing...right now we're developing with a Epson TM-H5000 and TM-U950 printers. I know that most people who use computers now wouldn't want to go back, but the option would be nice for those (like us) who are transitioning off of the card system. I like the cards myself, I just want the terminal to print the session information each time, to prevent fraudulent use... |
my software is for a salon with more than just tanning, but i feel it is VERY user friendly & suppots all needs. it's Salon Iris. (saloniris.com) check it out for some ideas. Good Luck ! |
I bought Salon Iris and got rid of it! It cost me $1500 for the networked version and it didn't even interface with my T-Max timer. We were delayed when we opened so they refused to allow us to return it. It was one of the biggest mistakes I made when we opened! It does not support all needs! I am still very angry & dissappointed! |
srsalon thanks for the info. *Sherin what are u using now? |
Look at MSTAN.COM It's a free download, some software you can look at. I really like the flexibilty in planning sessions and packages, however it doesn't support SKUs longer than 8 or 10 digits, so we couldn't use it. But I did think it was pretty nice overall...once you get around a few of the quirks... |
Salon software you design might include: Tmax timer compatible Tracking bed usage Customer data Inventory AND very, very user friendly oh, and reports, lots of reports |
