Rep Power: 0 | As a salon manager what do your responsibilities consist of? Do you clean beds as much as your other girls? Do you stay up at the front counter most of the time? I am having issues with this, so I was curious what everyone else did.. |

Rep Power: 24 | You have an issue with what exactly? I run the salon and work just as hard as our other girls. IMO how do you expect the other employees to be enthusiastic about cleanliness and their job if you don"t even want to touch a bed? If I want our girls to look a certain way, talk a certain way, sell a certain way, then I better be doing it. If I have an employee in the salon working and I have other things to attend to, I don"t need to hover around them at the front counter. I"ve trained them well enough to know how to sell products to our tanners. As a manager & silent owner, I should be busting my butt more than our girls to make sure that I'm cleaning what they missed. I helped build the salons, I don"t want them to go downhill. In my manager role, I make sure the girls are making their sales. I calculate their sales, monthly sales goals, research different sales tactics, review their assignments, etc. As a manager, I believe that you should do more than what your girls do. |

Rep Power: 0 | Sales is a big part of it. My owner has been in the salon for the past week b/c our computer crashed. While he was there he noticed the girls were not selling well and were hesitant about what they were talking about. One of the girls just started and I haven't been in the salon as much due to being really sick, so I realize she doesn't know everything from front to back. The other girl has been there for 7 months or so and she is quiet and one of those people who is afraid to do anything wrong or anyone be mad at her, so she gets hesitant. I've tried to explain this to her. I just got done doing notecards for these 2 girls for the past 2 hours. I talked to my owner the other night and he told me he does NOT want them selling until they know their stuff and to just be cleaning beds and doing laundry. Oviously someone has to stay up front at the counter and he wants me up there selling like crazy and not cleaning beds too often obviously. My girls aren't thrilled with this idea, but he is my boss. Don't know what to do?!?! |

Rep Power: 28 | I personally hired a new girl last month and she is still JUST cleaning beds. You can't have too many people selling. I have my dedicated sales closers and "my bed techs" they just clean beds and basic housekeeping. After a few months or so I will start to train her on the computer (she is a military computer specialist, I am sure she can beat my *** on this computer anyway!) Everyone needs their roles to make it work. |

Rep Power: 22 | DC i do the same. Every sales person has to be doing the same song and dance. So when a customer tells me something i know isnt wright i can always tell them that they must have had a miscommunacation with the employee. I clean as much as everyone else. My sales people have to clean beds when they have time. No one is to good to clean. How can i ask you to bust *** if i am not willing to? IN 10 years i have only hired 1 computer person. Everyone has to start as a bed cleaner. Mistakes such as burning and miscounting money cannot be made. Dealing with customers in this business can be different from other businesses. |

Rep Power: 21 | In my salon I have bed cleaners or "salon associates" for the pc readers. I hire employees on a 30 day probationary period. This has been a god send in a couple of occasions. Once you have shown me that you are capable of handling more responsibilities we will start training on computer. Then I have my sellers, then I have my employees that can open/close, then my manager. In my opinion I believe you have to start from the bottom up to know the workings of a business. I hold my manager just as accountable for the daily cleaning duties as the bed cleaners. Leading by example is the best tool for teaching. Yes my manager and employees who sell are busy but along with salon training I also try to teach time management. If you make it a team effort your salon is a much happier place. |
