Rep Power: 21 | I don't allow the use of ANY tanning accelerator in the form of SPRAY in my salon, due to a couple of times of busting my butt after slipping on the tile floor. I have flourescent signs in each room stating such. My rooms all have open ceilings and the reception area is centrally located amongst all 8 rooms. I still hear psst, psst, psst! Do they think I'm deaf and can't hear them spraying that crap all over my room? I also hate it because the over spray lands on top of my bed canopys and just cooks on to it and it's hard as heck to get off. I took outdoor sunscreen AND outdoor lotion (Hawaain Tropic) away from a client just last week. She said she's used it before while tanning here. I politely explained WHY they are prohibited and pointed to the sign that I'm sure she saw all the times she's tanned. People see what they want to see and do what they want to do UNTIl they're caught at least. Then they know that you are keeping an eye on them. |

Rep Power: 28 | Just a question, How are your lotion sales? I don't like people to use that sh*it in my beds either and would rather sell my lotions BUT if it is for indoor and that is a big BUT let them use it. Chances are after you educate them on the difference of the over the counter crap vs. quality, fresh salon bought lotions (com'p them a packette) trust me they will see the difference. I used to buy back their lotions for a credit toward what I sold. I just try to educate them and if they don't see it just to save a buck well then I will make just as much on the more sessions they will use. It is important to really (in exit greeting) hype up the color someone got (that is using a quality lotion) that helps sales because the products do what they are intended to do. Also think about pricing your lotions a little under MSRP to increase the sales. I have and sell tons of lotions per week. Still a great profit margin for me and people are getting an GREAT deal. But in the long run they will continue to tan with you and use more sessions to get the result they want to acheive. Either/Or lotion sales vs. tanning sessions you will still make $$$. If you dismiss them to tan with your comp well, I am sure your comp will be very happy. just my .02 |

Rep Power: 0 | I would not let anyone use that cheap junk in my beds either. I feel the best solution is to offer them 20% or 30% off something you sell ($19.99 or more) if they trade that junky stuff in to you. Then simply through that crap in the trash when they are not looking. It is really important to let them feel thay have some say-so in it, because they will feel like you are trying to make an extra dollar off them. Explain to them that the stuff they can buy at a store has alot of mineral oil in it which is not only bad for your skin, it ruins your acryilic in the beds, and stops all your other clients from geting a great tan,and you would much rather loose one customer than all of them, right??. If they still do not agree- i would simply tell them they can not tan in your beds with that lotion, and hold it at counter till they leave. If they insist on it, tell them to go down the road unless they are prepared to comp you for your plexi. But if you are polite about it and explain,"look, you already used half ad I'm giving you 30% off my lotion, your not loosing any money, your gaining a lotion that is going to give you a darker, healthier tan". |

Rep Power: 20 | Platinum, we do the same thing. If they have a lotion we do not approve of, we will give them 25% off one of ours, and some upgrade credits. Most people don't have a problem doing that, and most of them are so much happier with the results from a better lotion that they end up thanking us for making them get rid of the cheap stuff they had. |
