Rep Power: 27 | Yeah, cutout one of your employees. I went from taking appointment *oh what a hassel* to "first come first served" and ended up eliminating one employee and a lot of headaches..... cancelations, no shows, changing appt..... you get the drift. I also raised my prices and cut out the free loaders.... Less bodies, more money for me |

If you have stocked you location with tons of units waiting to be filled, then taking the no appointment route is great, but if you have outfitted your salon to meet what you have determined to be enough equipment to fill your day with no empty units, then taking appointments is the way to go. However, there will be locations in which clients count on getting what they want when they want it with little or no delay, hence the appointment. In my situation, I would shutter at the thought of telling a client who has called, asking about available spaces, "sorry I can't garuntee you a spot at such and such a time, just come in and take your chances". To me that is running your salon like an assembly line, with revenue as your only goal and lacks personal attention. |

Rep Power: 24 | I may consider taking appointments for my big bed (for my EFT customers)during the busy season, however since it is only a 12 minute tan, people seem inclined to wait 15 minutes to tan. |

Rep Power: 0 | Used to take appointments but switched about 3 years ago. I love less hassle like Mitzi says. It does amaze me when someone will wait 15 minutes for a 12 minute bed when there are other units available. |

Rep Power: 0 | I initially considered taking appointments but after talking to other who had, decided not to. If one or two are late then you are behind and that runs others behind when they plan for a certain time. If I have all the level beds full that they want and they have tanned for some time, I offer them an upgrade bed on me. This gets them to try the next level bed and see what it is like. They enjoy the gift and many times have not tried the next level and don't know what it is like. Very often, they like the next level well enough that they start using it -- thus makes me more money in the long run. It also shows the people I enjoy their business and not there just for their money. By giving a little I get a lot in return. |

Rep Power: 27 | I cannot name one drawback since going "1st come 1st served. Majority of people come to tan for relaxation and color of course, so they like the idea of being able to just walk in. Some comments I have heard over the years are: "Good, I hate making appts." "I never know when I can come so no appts. are great" "Appts. are for doctors offices" Just to recite a few.... _________________ Stop the negative press, go to www.ptaf.org to support the cause.
