Rep Power: 107 | In this day and age of Debit Cards and Credit cards you should not be taking personal checks, if at all, from anyone unless, they are a trusted friend. Who the heck doesn't have a debit card issued by their bank? Freeze this person sessions (hopefully they didn't buy a product) and call them with the "good" news, no tanning until you honor the check amount in cash and pay the NSF charges. |

Rep Power: 0 | I did call them. I just thought there was some kind of letter i had to send to them. No products was sold. A prom special was sold to her. I called her and told her she needed to bring the money to me, along with the NSF charge and he cannot tan until this is paid. |

Rep Power: 107 | Good deal! They will either bring you the money owing or they won't. Freeze the package until they do and if they don't you might be out the NSF charges at the least. A lesson learned. Personal cheques don't mean what they did 30 years ago and nobody wants them. |

Rep Power: 21 | In my experience the only reason a person writes a check these days is when they nave NO money in the bank today but want the purchase today. They gamble with time knowing it will take a few days before the check gets processed and they will have money in the account by then. Most of the time their timing is off. My lawyer gave me a very nice and cheap solution to recovering the money. Take the check to the bank and have the check certified - the bank freezes the money. Then go cash (deposit) the check. It will cost a few dollars and can only be done once there is money in the account. Best answer comes from NEON - don't accept checks......... _________________ - - - - a happy wife is a happy life - - - -[ This Message was edited by: canadiantaner on 2004-04-17 22:22 ] |

Rep Power: 25 | Our county attorney will collect on bad checks and is pretty successful at it. Clients know it and we have very few bad checks, and even a smaller percentage that are not collected on. |
