I thought it was a legitimate question. It was a question I asked several salon owners before I opened my salon. Sheila why are you always trying to bust peoples balls. If you dont feel a question is worthy of an answer then simply dont answer. Just thought id put my 2 cents in .

Cant answer the question though, having been opened for only 3 weeks now. Were doing very well but ive yet to experience the slow season.

Tyler, if you think that your gonna get rich quick, or rich at all, you better start slangin rock on the corner in front of your salon!! You are eager, but focus....You have opened up in the middle of the busy season, and you see money coming in now....but from june-sept you are gonna be wetting your pants unless you SAVE SAVE SAVE now!!!
Don't think of it in terms of how much money you are gonna make....You need to realize that in order to build a successfull business, you must make sacrifices along the way. You must first worry about paying off the business!!
Depending on how much money you spent to open, you are probably looking at anywhere from 3-5 years to pay it all off, so just do that.....Then, worry about how much money you are making- when it matters!! I just tell you this because you seem to be a little bit ahead of yourself. One out of Five tanning salons succeeds past 2-3 years.
It is a harsh truth, so don't think I am being negative, I am just trying to help. Dont go and buy a new car, dont go and spend a bunch of money on things you dont need, because the $13,000 per month you are grossing right now, is gonna be a sad $2,000 per month come summer. You will be happy to break even in the fall months, and will start to profit again slowly. WHATEVER PROFIT YOU MAKE RIGHT NOW, YOU NEED TO PUT AWAY FOR THE SLOW SEASON!! Once you get a feel for how the money comes in (usually after a year), it is then that you can somehow figure out how much you are gonna make. Also, just because one person makes a certain amount of money in one place, doesn't mean that you are going to make the same!! It depends on where you are in the country, and how many units you have, how big the population is, how rich the area is ...etc... Concentrate on how to keep the people in YOUR salon, because once it is nice out, they forget all about you....

I didnt start this thread. I said I couldnt answer his question cause I dont know how much money im making yet and I havent experienced a slow season yet. I dont think your being negative and I appriciate all the info. My partner and I went into this knowing that we probably wouldnt pull a profit for atleast a year. But I like the idea of selling crack rock outside. It could carry us through the slow season.

Registerd as a 13yr old..which is why Shelia answered as she did..and a very appropriate answer at that. Seems to me, someone owes the Lovely Ms S an apology..the Lady is very astute!

Why is not this kids mother monitoring what he/she is doing on line..first a tan forum, then what?? Porno??!!!!

soapking...I agree she is a smart woman. Often time grossly underrated (mostly by those who do not know her.) Apologies are due...hmmm Wonder if anyone will own up?

Tyler ... as you can see ~ I cannot be all things to all people.... therefore I simply continue to be me....

You don't care for me / my style and as is the right of every participant online - you have stated your opinion....

Surely you won't mind if I continue to state mine ?????

*note to my lovely, lovely SoapKing and the even lovelier MJ...you are making me blush ~ aaaaaaahahahahahaha
