Rep Power: 23 | Short and simple: *Don't ever ever ever EVER lie to me. *If is dirty..clean it. *If it is on the floor..pick it up. *If something is out of place..put it back where it goes. *If it is empty ..fill it. *You must at all time dress appropriately for working condition. * You must also at all time behave professionally remember this is a working enivorment not the mall. *Keep the customers happy at all times. *Show up for work on time...it is your responsiblity to check your schedule. I have three children I do not need anymore It is not my responsiblity to remind you of your job. *This is not study hall, nor the library. *No you may not make personal calls and leave your cell phone off, check your messages after your shift is over. *You cannot give anything away for free. *Friends and family members are not allowed to sit and chat. *You cannot tan on the clock. *No you cannot close early because you have cramps.(like we don't know "Cramps" is a code word for I have to get ready for a party):eyeroll:The midol is located in the back room. *You are responsible for the cash drawer and lotions when I leave so watch them like a hawk. ****** Last but not least YOU are a sales person not a chair warmer.....and remember your mother does not work here so clean up after yourself. If you do not like the policies here. You do not have to work here. And furthermore....if you do not follow the salon policies you will not work here. _________________ Saving you the trouble chunnster.. [ This Message was edited by: MJ on 2004-01-20 00:25 ] |

Rep Power: 23 | OHH I forgot two things.. *No you cannot have an advance on your next paycheck. and *Do not believe customers when they tell you "MJ doesn't charge me for upgrades/samples". Just nicely explain .. "I am not "MJ"...I am sure MJ will refund you..since your her friend and all.:winkwink: But I cannot do that for you today. You can either come back when she is working and talk to her or that will be XX.XX amount of dollars." I have implimented a new policy as of this year. Any new hires between Jan 1st-June 1st You will receive a one year memebrship free of charge. And will be responsible for paying for your visits at the discounted one year member rates.(at the time of tanning...you cannot ask for it to be deducted from your check.) Should you be in on staff beyond 90 days your tanning dollars spent will be fully reimburst. You cannot tan on your own shift...If you work afternoons it means you must come in early or stay after your am shift to tan. _________________ Saving you the trouble chunnster.. Rep Power: 23 | I suggest: Cut and paste it into 'word'. Clean it up, add what you would like to personalize it. Print a boat load of copies....and when asked are you hiring??? Hand them that. Tell them to take it home, read it and IF they are still intersted in a job to come back and ask again for a application. If they do....read it out loud to them at the time of hiring...then have them sign it. Show them a copy of the write up forms they will recieve and infrom them that they will only get three chances within their probationary period. Stay firm and enforce your policies. And you will be fine. MIND YOU ...you might have a high turn over but hey better to have high turn over then employees that chase away the clients, rob you blind..or worse both. I don't know about you but I am about sick of people working until their vaction and quitting MID SEASON!!!!!(so I am gonna try this new policy..I will let you know how it works.) JMHO As for the nomination of Tantalk Goddess...Thanks Doll but no thanks. I think the chunnster might disagree just a tad...wouldn't ya Mr. Vague??? heheheh |

Rep Power: 23 | Thanks... Hope this helps others and prevents them from making mistakes I have made in teh past. I guess you need to get sick of the BS to come to these conculsions.lol It took me almost 4 years to grow a back bone and come up with these rules...and the amount of "baitchness" necessary to enforce them. I have been played one to many times by employees..I am done. If you don't quite have a strong back bone yet borrow someone elses..like your husbands or wife. Even if he/she is not in anyway shape or form involved with the business... pretend they are. Have him/her come in and post the schedule, do the write ups, etc... Now the new girl is soo not liking the policy (about paying for her tans)....but hey such is life. she knew that coming in. She is doing well, so I will probably give her a free tan card maybe next week for the big beds...we will see how it goes. I resigned myself to the fact that no matter how nice you are to your staff there will always be the few that ruin it for the others. And well so far so good. I am watching her like a hawk though. I'll keep you posted. |
