Rep Power: 21 | How does everyone handle employees gossping to much with the clients. You can warn them however what do you think they are doing when you are not there? Had several issues of employees gossping How would you handle |

Rep Power: 21 | I was a witness to an employee being fired for gossiping with salon clients. It is completely inappropriate. The customer employee relationship is very delicate and can reflect negatively on the buisness. |

Rep Power: 21 | Yep. We serve write ups for gossip between employees even - so gossip with customers is absolutely FORBIDDEN! You have to realize that many of these clients come in and tell their life stories - and that is something that we all know. But, for US to tell THEM anything and everything about OUR business is COMPLETELY unprofessional. I would really take this as a VERY serious matter. There are some little insider tips that we can let on to clients to make them feel special ("Oh! The new 2004 lotions are coming out soon! I've heard that XXX will be great!") but obviously there is a distinct line ("Yep, the salon sold to it's new owners for $XX)! Good luck - nip it in the bud ASAP! love, alarris |

Rep Power: 21 | I feel that I have to someone how catch this person in the act. To me firing someone for gossiping with hard evidence is a very sticky matter. The person whom comes to me may be a bit of a gossiper themselves or someone that likes to stir-up a lot of #$%@$%#$%$ Yall' know what I mean... It is a very delicate task to handle. I greatly appreciate the advise and comments being posted |

Rep Power: 0 | I was visiting a new salon a few months ago and while waiting for my room, I heard the girls at the counter talking trash about two other girls that work at another salon nearby. I knew the 2 girls being talked about as I have visited their salon many times. Upon my exit, I made mention to the girls at the counter that I know the 2 girls that they were trash talking about and that I would be going to see them and let them know what was being said. I don't know what happened after I told them. As an owner, I think that it would be in your best interest to remind employees that catty trash talking is not good for the front desk with customers present. |

Rep Power: 0 | If you have female employees you are going to have gossipers. Guaranteed. Just do your best not to encourage it. It may be difficult for a part-time minimum wage girl to understand that when you bad mouth the competition and tanners you don't like that they are not allowed to do the same. |

Rep Power: 0 | When I've had this problem I approached the employees by telling them that a customer told me they overheard them gossiping and that she now has to wonder what is being said about her what she leaves. It seemed to work when they realized that I don't always have to be here to know what is going on. I have the best group of spies (my long term clients) and they work for free. They love to report back to me when any of my employees act up. I get a kick out it and can then always stay on top of things before they become a problem. |
