Rep Power: 22 | Ok so for the second time in 4 months, the transformer at our shopping center has blown. This means that we only have some, if any, power. Yesterday we were able to power 3 beds, the computer, and some of the lights. We decided to close because we didn't want to damage the equipment. Besides, only having three beds running looks bad. So anyway, apparently a client went off on my girl yelling at her for not having it fixed (um yeah she should have gotten her overalls on and repaired the darn transformer). What should I say to her? Also, what should I say to my landlord? This really makes me mad - having to close, making no money, and making clients unhappy! Any input would be appreciated. |

Rep Power: 22 | Isn't there something in some insurance policies that provides for interruption of services? I have never used it, but I know I read something about it in our policy. You have no control over this problem and your customers should understand that. Sounds like your strip mall has a big problem that they need to get fixed once and for all! |

Rep Power: 22 | Yeah you can bet my landlord is going to get an earful tomorrow morning! This can not keep happening. I wish I could remember the date of the first one. I plan on documenting everything in case I need to get out of my lease due to not being able to be open properly. |

Rep Power: 0 | There are 3 legs comming into most strip malls and what I was told is this has a tendency to happen when the ground starts to soften. We lost a leg earlier this year , but it only took maybe an hour to get back up. You can check with your landlord, but if its an act of god, its not like the landlord neglected the property and caused this, if that is what it is. May be he could draft a letter apologizing for this inconvenience and you could send it or post it for your clients. Did you have your local electric company come out ? or was it someone else ? They should have documentation for you too. may be your landlord could compensate you deduct form rent. |

Rep Power: 0 | May I suggest getting an UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply). They are a bit pricey but have several advantages. First, they can provide you with 2-4 Hours of power after the lights go out. Second, the good ones will "condition" your electricity. Normal power can vary, surge, sag, get "noisy", or just plain quit for brief periods of time. Think of conditioning as a water filter for your electricity. They truly protect your equipment from damage due to electrical problems. I have used Best Power UPS (www.bestpower.com) in a variety of places. They work very well. A salon of 4-5 beds will probably need a 15-20kVA 3-phase PowerWare if you want to run all of them at the same time during a power outage. You could probably get by with a 10kVA for true emergencies and general conditioning. Mark |
