Was wondering if any of you have your washer/Dryer at your Salon/Studio or if you bring them home and do the washing there?
When I put together the floor plan at my salon I did not have any room for a laundry room...now I really wish I did..it is such a hassle to bring the towels back and forth!
Definitly will be adding this in the future when I do expansion!!
How about all of you..Where do you do your towels?

I don't at the moment. I am using the dryer outlet for one of my beds. But we are going to be re-working this in the next week. I then will have the electric for the dryer. I have a small closet space that holds the hotwater tank and AC. That is were the w/d connection is and it is very small, so I will be getting a stackable set.

Last year we took our towels to the laundry mat. Slow season I jsut take them home. Not for long now! Can't wait.

Let me tell you - you will feel like a queen when you guys get your washer and dryer set up. We had planned for one and it is great to be able to toss a load in during the day. As a matter of fact I am at the salon so much and the washer and dryer we have is bigger than the one I have at home that I have started bringing the laundry from home and doing it at work when it's slow!

We bought and exsisting salon that is located in a strip-mall that is set on a concert floor. Two areas plumbed for water but... the bathroom is not large enough to meet code if adding a W/D and the other wall is in an exsisting tanning room!! I get tired of hauling towels during busy season and I have even coaxed by BF into doing a load a day for me BUT she has recently opened a deli next to us so we are exploring are options for W/D possiblities!! Until then we will haul them several times a day!!! Man, who can I con into washing them for me now?!?!?!

You don't need plumbing in floor to add washer. Your plumber can install a pump. It's about the size of a 5 gallon bucket. It pumps all waste water up overhead to wherever a current drain is. We have washer drain into regular wash tub which drains into this pump. Works great 2 years now. $300.00 installed.

How an you function all day without a washer and dryer.
You have to be crazy to take all that laundry home every night.

I took over a second store about 6 months ago and it had no washer/dryer (owner took laundry home) one of the very first things we did was add a set of the Duet front loading washer and dryer. It was unbelievable to have to take all that laundery home everyday. Also the front loading washer is very quiet and the towels last longer because there isnt as much wear on them, we have seen quite a difference from our other store with a traditional washer, and the load size is larger too.

I feel for anyone that does not have a washer and dryer at their salon. When I took over the salon, my dryer was never vented outside??? So of course, I was written up by Fire Marshall Bill:) Any way, I fixed the problem...but it was a pain doing everything at home.

We put in a second washer in the salon this off season. We now have 2 washers and 2 dryers. Hopefully this will keep us caught up, last year we had times when we had to go to the laundromat to get caught up. I believe if you do not have a washer and dryer in the salon you are really setting yourself up to fail. If you cannot fit one in the salon you are in the wrong place. If you cannot afford one you are in the wrong business. Just my opinion.
