Rep Power: 24 | While in Can Cun I had the pleasure of speaking with several successful owners from around the country.. Can Cun is different than the Vegas Show or Nashville or even a Symposium because it allows you the freedom to interact with others who are on the same page as yourself when it comes to our business.. Friday evening I had the chance to open up a discussion regarding Generation Y.. A lot of these kids (ages 12-19) are reaching early adulthood. It is my opinion that it is time we acquaint ourselves with their expectations and needs in regards to the services we offer and provide for them. If we get them excited about our business services now…we will have them for many many years to come. Generation Y is 44 million strong!!! They spend more than 270 billion dollars annually on consumer goods!!! (that’s double what the baby boomers spend). They are more ethnically/racially diverse….and go for things that are “different”. 75% of them have working mothers and fathers and 32% are from a single parent home… This means they are more likely to “shop alone”.. They are more optimistic than the X Generation and prefer intelligent advertising, facts, and honesty. When marketing the Y generation it is important to remember they are unique. They are young decision makers and they have more money than any other generation before them. Do you have any ideas on how we can get they generation Y involves in our business? C |

Rep Power: 25 | Well Chris, My experience shows me that they have completely different set of work ethics than the baby boomers or Generation X and unfortunately I have NO clue as to how to get them to fit into our working society. But you are right that they have more money than others and have no problem spending it on good quality products and services. They want the facts on why and when they should use certain products but after knowing that will buy. |

Rep Power: 28 | They have more money than any other generation before them., This is why they are not interested in work ethics. But hope is not lost. They will have to face the world with us and I hope we can make a great addition to our tanning industry. I have 3 step-granchildren. the girl is only 5, but the boys are 11 and 12. One will work for what he wants and the other one is lazy. How do you get them to change? My salon is willed to these kids. I hope they will carry on with it. |
