Sorry if this has been asked a bazillion times. I've searched and searched the site but haven't found the answer I need.

What is the best bed to put in my home and why? Should I really bring in an electrician to run 220 or are the 110 beds just as good?

Would you buy direct from the manufacturer or would you buy used?

This is a joke, right? Why would you sign up on a professional industry board to ask about a home unit? The feelings of ambivalence most responsible salon owners may have about this issue is more about how much you know about the proper ways to tan than about the competition home units are to us.

No joke. I signed up to ask those who would know. I'm a single parent who works. This means I have to have the kids to school and race straight to work. The second I'm done with work I have to race back to pick them up again. I'm a prisoner in my house once the kids are in bed and they're too young to leave sitting in the lobby while they're awake. I had to put a gym in my home and now a tanning bed too.

Sorry if the question offended you. It was honest and the information is truly needed. Who better to ask then those who handle beds every single day?

Jim, this is Jim Carlton. It is ok. If you get a home unit and can afford a professional unit go for it and definately get the electrician to hook you up to a 220. If you are tanning on a regular basis you know you need a good professional tanning lotion, and bed cleaning solution . So make sure you go to your closest professional tanning salon and buy their best products so you don't mess up your acrylics and get the best tan. Good luck.

Thanks Jim Carlton! There were two reasons I wasn't looking at a professional bed. 1. Cost 2. I'll be the only one using it so it won't have much traffic. I didn't want to buy a tank when I'm only going to drive in the country on sundays. Is that bad reasoning?

I wasn't offended at all, just a little leary, and surprised. My concern is 1) do you know your skin type 2) how to build slowly and not tan too often and 3) stay hydrated, using lotion and moisturizer , drink more water etc.

It was not my intention to come across as confrontational; communication on the internet can't compare with speaking one on one. If you have questions and concerns about results you may or may not be seeing, feel free to ask in the open forum or pm.

And yes, as Tan Talker says, do it right with the guidance of a qualified electrician.

I was a single parent for 10 years so I do empathize.

Good luck.

Thanks Tamar. I've used tanning beds for many years and even took safty classes a few years ago for a part time job so I know quite a bit. BUT... I also know to ask questions where I'm unsure and this seems to be the place.

I have a lisenced electrician.
I won't tan too often.
I will be using lotion and not Walmart stuff

I need help with my original question. Is there enough of a difference between a 220 bed and a 110 bed to justify not buying a 110? What are the differences if any?

Again, this is the bed I'm looking at; www.lotion4less.com/sun24lamhoms.html

One last question. Is the site I posted the best place to buy this bed if you think it's ok to buy?

Stick with what you are comfortable with. Personally I would do the 220 for longevity sake and dependablity.
Come see us in Lake Mary,

Wish I could drive all the way to Lake Mary.
Last time I was in Lake Mary it barely had a gas station. Big changes going on there? I live about 60 miles south of that so even if I did have an extra 30 seconds in my day I wouldn't be able to do it.

I listed Orlando as my location because I thought this was a national board and people would know where Orlando is. Plus I'm not big on putting personal info on the internet. It's an over protective dad thing.

Back to the salt mines.
