Friends:

I can handle the regulatory battles.

I can handle the media battles.

I can handle the battles with the GOBN.

In fact, I pay very little attention to the insults that come my way because I accept them as the price I pay for being willing to ALWAYS stand up for the rights of tanning salon owners.

The "bottom line" is that I can handle most everything that comes my way except for the barrage of defaming and insulting comments made by Max Recone, President of California Tan, in the Moderator's private forum tonight and in the "open" forum this past week. I've had my fill of his "bully boy" tactics and I am saddened by the fact that not one of my fellow moderators had the courage to stand up and defend me!

Therefore, I am immediately leaving TanTalk (with a heavy heart) and I will no longer participate in the "Ask Don" forum, the "Regulatory" forum and the "E-Magazine" forum .

My thanks to all of my "on line" friends for your kindness and support.

If you still want to read what I have to say, check the other three websites and www.naatso.org. I'll be around!

Don: With all do respect.

I’m not sure what your battle is with Max, but you said you were not a quitter!

Over the past 2 years, you have left salon owners stranded with your twice threatening to close down TSO.

You have also quit TanToday, and Suntanning.com on more then several occasions.

You have had problems with all the major trade magazines, with maybe the exception of IST, and you have been invited to participate with the ITA, and refused because they didn’t see everything your way!

I am personally tired of you always “picking up your marbles” when things don’t go you way!

Quit giving salon owners a false sense of support if you are not willing to go the distance!

You are an adult.. you can make this decision if you want.
I don't understand it myself.. but.. I don't think I need to..

I just think that you were looking for support from us in a "personal battle" between Max and you. and none of us understood what was really going on..

Remember something here Don you and Max are the Big Guyz here..
For either one of you to ask any of us to get involved in your private dispute is not fair..

Remember this Don.. None of us were there when you and Max made the deal about the eye protection tests....

No Don, I don't understand it.......
But like I said I don't feel I ever would no matter how much someone explained it to me.. because I wasn't there.. ( NONE of us were Sir!)

I will continue to support your missions Don and I will continue to sponsor quality education for Salon Owners.
I will honor my promises I have made to this industry as a whole..

I wish you would not make this decision Don.. but as I said it is unfortunate your personal issues with Max made this decision for you professionaly here on Tantalk.com.

Not sure of behind the scenes issues in your Moderator forum, but support was shown very much in Nashville two weeks ago from your friends at Tan Talk.

You start sticking it to recone, he sticks it to you.
You can't take it, so you split out.
Don't you do this about every 9 months at one site or another.
It is a real shame you cant see yourself on this Don.
Your fight with Recone has not one thing with the people here at tantalk.com
It belongs to you and Max Recone.
Yet you expected the people here to defend your position.
Think about how that works Dear Don.

You have a lot to offer Don too bad you feel the need to hurt those who have supported you.
You were given a platform to speak from here on this site. You picked to battle Recone in open view and couldn't follow through with it.
Yes other sites will take you back Don with open arms, but remember you have had some sort of run in with every single organization you have been apart of in the past.
It's always about you Don.
Tisk Tisk this could have been a good topic.
You could have gotten some more support Don.
Once again you as Bob says pick up your toys and leave for another playground.

Don is free to do what he wants. Heis the one doing the reaserch and spending his time and money to help salon owners. I know what is like to being hounded and attacked unfairly by this bunch.

Don has the right to expect the owners and moderators of this site which benifits from his efforts to support him.

Greg, excuse me? WTF? We have never attacked Don on this site. We have been nothing but supportive. I know I have supported him financially and did it gladly.

You and I have tangled on here, yes. People disagree. But I resent the implication that you are the victim. We have all caught our fair share of attacks.

If you find this site so unfair, why are you even here? You have many clients here, including myself.

That is his choice.....

I do not see why we are being punished by Don Smith or you with bad remarks....

I want to apologize to the TanTalk Team.

Like most of us, I am very passionate about this industry.

Don has contributed much to this industry and for that I am grateful. What upsets me is this continual coming and going when he sees fit.

This industry is not about one person; it is about us as a group. We are all in our own way seeking to make a better industry for us all. I was so upset just a few weeks ago when my buddy Chris was trying so hard to put this meeting together in Nashville, she even paid for it. Only to have Don start to whine and act like he was going to pull out! You can’t play with someone’s emotions like that!

Don is a good man, but the members of TanTalk have done nothing but support Don, and now their emotions are being played with, as if they did something wrong. THAT I DON’T LIKE!

I just wanted to say I was sorry to the gang here for my sharp post last night, but I was angered by you guys taking the heat for something you do.

P.S. I wish Don the best!

P.S.S See Chunn sometimes I’m a jerk too!
