DON,
PLEASE HELP..........
I HAD A CRACKED ARCYLIC, SO I CALLED MY DISTR AND ORDERED A REPLACEMENT. WHEN I RECEIVED THE NEW ONE, IT HAD RIPPLES ALL DOWN THE MIDDLE.I CALLED DISTR. AGAIN, AND THEY SENT OUT A NEW ONE. THIS ONE IS PITTED. I CALLED AGAIN. TODAY THEY CALLED ME AND SAID THAT I COULD KEEP WHAT I HAD AT NO CHARGE, BUT RIPPLED OR PITTED WON'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN TANNING EXPERINCE. IS THAT TRUE? I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT.......

No:

If you have a Solartech UVB meter, you can quickly check to see whether or not the acrylics are transmitting correctly.

Take the acrylic off and measure the UVB irradiance in several places. Then put the acrylic back on and check the irradiance level in the same places.

If the irradiance level has decreased by more than 10% (especially in the "rippled" or "pitted" sections), you shouldn't use the acrylic. If, on the other hand, the readings are close, the UVR transmission isn't affected.

However, there is one thing more you should consider in the case of the "pitted" acrylic and that is the difficulty in properly disinfecting it.

I hope this helps.

Don

PS: If you don't have a UVB meter but have an A & B meter, it can be used but it won't be as sensitive to the changes.
