Rep Power: 24 | When you buy the pretty display by JA or California Tan, what do you do with it? Do you assemble it, price your products and put it out for display? What do you do after that? Anything???? Or do you just allow the display to do all the work? The reason I bring this up is, I bought the new display with the Suddenly Sun facial bronzing powder from California Tan. Before I had the display I sold this stuff VERY FAST!!! Since I've stopped working in preparation for my wedding (travelling to Wisconsin, etc.) I noticed that my display is set out... looks real purdy, priced right and displayed properly. But no one is selling the stuff. It's just sitting there!!! If I were there, I would have my display in front of me and I would introduce it to all my clients as they come in to tan. Don't allow your displays to take the place of person to person sales. Be aware that your displays are ONLY DISPLAYS and aren't meant to take the place of good salesmanship. |

Rep Power: 24 | Not one reply and only 9 views!!! (and 2 of those are MINE!) How pathetic. Well my guess is, due to lack of response... those who read and didn't at least defend themselves must be. It's all right there in the title. "Are you a lazy salesperson?" So those who didn't read at least know what exactly it is I am asking. Are you all so busy online fighting with each other, ETS, FDA, ITA and TSS that you are too busy to get to work? I mean I know that Michael Chunn loves the views. And I know Sheila loves the attention. I'm sure Sam is enjoying his newfound success. But, call a spade a spade. If you guys are so busy with everything else you don't have time to answer one simple question... then you don't have to. I already know the answer. Next year when my owner is enjoying her success and offering me to be her partner because I was busy being an active salesperson, then perhaps you'll have time to figure out what went wrong. Defend yourself. If you even took the time to read this thread. |

Rep Power: 23 | I sometimes get bad about suggestive selling because I worry that people will think I'm being pushy. I do remind myself to do it though because 10% of people will buy it if you suggest it and that's better than none. We just have to remind ourselves not to get discouraged by all the non-buyers. |

Rep Power: 23 | I think it's very easy for us to allow good merchandising to take the place of active salesmanship. Sales staff have been known to see a snazzy display or setup and think "Well, if the customer doesn't notice this stuff now, then they never will." This is where you need to challenge and motivate your staff. Run a contest focusing on whatever product it is you want to introduce to your clients. Whoever sells the most units of product X wins a bottle of lotion, a free session in a superbed (if you charge your employees for those), whatever. The key to a good contest is that it is short in duration (1 week MAX) and that you really talk it up to your employees to get them motivated to SELL. This ensures that they will suggest the product to every client that they see TODAY and not wait until "next time they come in". |

Rep Power: 0 | Me too. Especially this time of year when it is the regulars coming in every day. I don't want to bug them all the time asking how their lotion supply is. I have been pushing moisturizers but it is really easy to do the "Hi, how are you today? I've got you in room 2, do you want 20 minutes today?' routine. Pam |
