Every year in August we have a cookout for all our employees. Last year my husbands company was included and will be this year as well.

Just to reward them we like to invite them to our camper and treat them to a day of fun.

We supply the meat, they bring a covered dish. They also get use of the putt putt, swimming pool and the nice playground for the kids.

do any of you do this sort of thing? They seem to really enjoy and appreciate the day out with us.

Mitzi

That sounds like alot of FUN! We have very few employees so I just do stuff like gc's to places. Maybe (cross your fingers) as our business gets busier we could do something like this for our employees.

Angie, it doesn't take a lot of money to have a cookout. If it did, I probably wouldn't do it, Remember I am a small salon.

We do it to have fun and enjoy a day out of work. Learn lot's by doing this.

I am lucky that I have a place to do it besides my home, but home would be okay as well. They will appreciate it more than you think. Try it.

My employees start asking me every year in May if we are gonna have the cookout. They really look forward to it. Last year some of our friends outside of work were also there. So in total we had about 35 or so people. Other campers (which are close to us) also join in on the fun. They pitch in with food as well.

Our meat list includes:
Hotdogs/Hamburgers
Deep fried Turkey
Fresh fish (if anyone catches any)
Ribs

As for the other food, there is way to much to list here.
It is a FAT DAY hehehe

Every year we have a Christmas party at a local nice rest. but it is becoming way to expensive. We let everyone bring a boyfirend or husband. We have 5 business, so all of them combined is alot of $. This year we will be doing a cook out. My problem is the under age employees. They would like to drink and that is out of the question! I end up babysitting the beer.

I don't have underage employees. so I am lucky on that part. But I still keep a watch on the beer. Want to make sure I get my share

Sounds like a wonderful idea mitzi, I think I might consider giving it a try.
