Rep Power: 25 | to us, somethings aren't to new employees. Just a few days ago I came out of my office to see a lady heading for a tanning room with her 2-3 year old. I immediately stopped her and told her that her child could not go in the tanning room with her, she was completely dumb founded. I explained the dangers to her and she sayes she had been doing it where she used to tan ever since the little one was born. She left with a confused look on her face, I am not sure whether I educated her because she really didn't know or she just didn't care. But I did educated my young employee who was convinced by this client that she had done it numerous times before and it would be ok. This was only her third session in my salon, I hope to God that she had not done it before here. So up went the note for all employees to sign: Only one person in the tanning room at any time, no exceptions". Even though it seemed like common sense to me, it was not included in our "standard operating procedures manual"....it will be next revision. |

Rep Power: 0 | I understand and agree. I had a husband that would come in with his wife. She was on the unlimited plan. Well, he would go in the room with her claiming he was putting lotion on her back, the employees where like...OK, I guess thats alright. Well, this was going on at night and since I work days I was unaware of this. Anyway, I had to work a double one day, and they came in. I was in the office doing the deposits and Melissa was putting her...(them) in the bed, I peeked my head out the door and said, "where did he go?" She explained the situation to me, so I went and pounded on the door about 10 min. into the tanning session as if it was some emergency. Sure enough, as I had expected she came out of the room in a panic. HE WAS IN THE BED TANNING. I just looked at her and said "tell him to get out of the bed RIGHT NOW" and I meant it. I was peed off. I told her if he did not buy a package immediatley her membership expired right then and there. I talked to her about it and to tell you the truth, it actually really bothered me how they had been scamming and they new it. I even gave her free upgrades and discounts and all along he was reaping the same benifits. Anyway he bought a package and everything is fine now. But you definatley have to watch some people. |

Rep Power: 23 | Teresa, you are right -- common sense to most people, but some people really have NO common sense at all!! Actually, they have NO sense period! I had a lady so mad because her 3 year old couldn't go in & color...she said she always went in at the other place she used to go & she also assured me that she kept the goggles on while she colored. Yeah right - I have been around enough 3-year-olds to know they would never keep eyewear on & color!! I have allowed a couple people go in to put lotion on someone's back, but I told them they had to come out before they kicked on the bed or it would be shut off. I haven't had any problems with that & I think I've only had 2 or 3 people do it. The saddest part of all is the amount of salon owners with NO SENSE that allow this to go on without saying a word. |

Rep Power: 24 | It's also very important to explain the "why" to these policies. I'm amazed sometimes that my own co-workers will allow things I would never allow. I've had similar experiences and as my hours increased with my responsibilites... I'm taking the time to explain this. We've had a recent on-slaught of parents wanting to bring their small children into the rooms with them. Each time the girls say "Laurie, what do you think?" I shouldn't have to be there to make that decision... so training will need to take place. Just Thursday some guy came out of room three and disappeared. No idea where he went. I finally asked clients waiting where he went and sure enough... he went into his girl friend's room. I was furious. I wish I had banged on the door as well... Thanks, I will next time! And to top it off, I was stuck in the back when they left. I'm so po'd this one got by me... but I never forget a face! Next time I will definately say something. |

Rep Power: 23 | There have been several parents that want to bring their children in the room with them. Do they really not think about this? We work so hard at explaining that eye protection is mandatory, they finally seem to get that through their head and the next thing you know they want to bring in their chilren. It makes no sense to me. |

Rep Power: 0 | I just tell them that my insurance doesn't allow it or that it is against state law. I haven't had a problem so far. The service station I go to has a sign up that says no one can go into garage area due to insurance regs so why not us...? Pam |

Rep Power: 0 | We have had new mothers come in with their babies in carriers wanting to take them into the rooms! Like an infant will even leave eyewear on for a moment! And the line of they will sleep through it doesn't fly either! If clsoing your eyes worked, WE wouldn't need eyewear! Geez!! |
