Rep Power: 23 | I have a new idea that I want to try out but I want to make sure that I not overlooking any potential problems. New pizza place went in next door to me. I know the owners from high school. He has a publishing co and they do all the printing for the Chamber of Commerce in the area. Looking through the book there are lots of businesses listed and fax numbers given. Would it be alright for me to fax flyers to the businesses? I thought it would be a good way to maybe reach potential clients and generally get my name out there. I know alot of times these get thrown away but even if it gets me 5 clients those are 5 potential long term cleints. I just wanted to make sure that there isn't any problems with fax solicitation(sp?) that I may run into. I've been aproached by a company that does this service but why pay for it and be in an add with several business when I can do it on my own for not much $$$'s. Comments or suggestions, what do you think? Angie |

Rep Power: 23 | We've talked about doing this also. Don't know if there are different laws from state to state, but here in Texas I saw faxes come through for the oddest things at an international law firm I worked in downtown. To capture the receiver's attention, you may want to customize the fax, such as "Bring a copy of this ad and receive special discounts for all employees of ABC Plumbing, blah, blah, blah...". Make 'em feel special. Remember, it is probably clerks, receptionists, or secretaries picking up these faxes, not the head honchos. Specifically target all support staff, but choose companies that will have more than "one person" office help! "Bring a friend and get a free lotion packet..." P.S. - Are flyers going out on those pizza boxes? _________________ "Erigbuo ya konye ozo erigbuo!"[ This Message was edited by: Tamar on 2002-07-27 06:52 ] |

Rep Power: 27 | We are a very industrial town. I got fax numbers from most of the factories on my side of town and the banks and a few other places that are on my side of town. When we have special events or special pricing I will fax it to these places. I have gotten some pretty good results doing this. |

Rep Power: 23 | If someone gives you their e-mail address or fax number it's not SPAM. But if you fax to every fax number in an area without asking if it's OK, it's SPAM. Each incoming fax costs money and if it was unwanted it might not be helpful to you. Steve Miller |
