Not sure where to post this topic but I was thinking about a sidewalk sale.

Setting up a small tables selling sunblock, lip balms, 1/2 price tanning packages, toe rings, sunglasses, anklets, etc.....

Has anyone ever done this before? If so, what was the outcome!

Get with the other tenants in your shopping center. Try to plan something on a weekend that is convenient for everyone. If everyone is involved it will increase traffic throughout the entire center.

We are planning a re-grand opening at one of our salons. The landlord just finished redoing the front facade of the building. And, one of the tenants in our building is the recording secretary for the local Chamber of Commerce. We are all working together to get the Chamber of Commerce out and have a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Our whole block is planning on haveing a sidewalk sale sometime in October or November. This will be perfect for me, I can also make it my Anniversary sale, not to mention being in the middle of slow season.

We chose that time of year because it was just before Christmas for some of the merchants, and because it won't be so darn hot! We are all getting together as far as advertising so it will be less expensive for us all. I'm excited.

That is a great time of year to do a sale and draw people in. I am going to approach some of the other businesses about it. Thanks for the idea.

I'm thinking about having a sidewalk sale at the end of August. What are you planning on selling at your sale? Lotions on a table, tanning packages? Are you placing an ad in the paper?

Neon,

Did you ever have your Sidewalk Sale last year? How was the turn out? New customers? What did you sell?

It can work when you provide the proper marketing support to spread the message.
