Rep Power: 0 | Right now I am working 8am -5pm. That seems to be our busiest time. I have part-timers working evening & most weekend hours. I do work an evening or two during the week but I am really a morning person. By 7:00, I want to be curled up with my blankey. I don't often but that is what I would like. Pam |

Rep Power: 23 | I give you credit, Bronze . I did nights and weekends for years and I hated it. I was so relieved when I started teaching and was done by 2pm. I could never go back to the late nights and working on holidays and stuff. If I were the head manager lady, I'd schedule myself to work during the week and have weekends off. You must be very dedicated. |

Rep Power: 25 | I am pretty sure that I work 24 hours a day/7 days a week. If I'm not in the salons the phone is ringing. I am really a morning person but I have been trying to start my day a little later so I am still there when the evening shift comes in. So my normal day starts around 6am....tantalk till 9 or 10. Get showered and go to work around 11, stay at the salons till 6 or 7, come home and back on tantalk till 10 or 11. That is all work isn't it????? I love tantalk and it is a place to have fun and learn at the same time, but in it's own way it is work, because it keeps our mind thinking tanning and applying the things we learn to our businesses. |

Rep Power: 24 | When I start fulltime in September I'm going to request that my days be Tues through Sat. I like being there on the weekends... but Sundays are hard because I'm divorced and that's the pickup day to get my kids back. Having Mondays off will also help me because often govt. holidays fall on Mondays and the schools often close those days. This will also help the owner because for now I won't be salaried, but will on the clock. I work 9+ hours a day except for weekends... so working the one weekend day should hopefully keep from going into overtime. Make sense? |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Work Hours something that employees need to understand is that the times owners say they want you to work are the times that they are needed. most owners have very tight scheaduals. for example. I am an owner of two salon along with my partner and I go to school. When I say i need someone to work I have to be at school or at the other salon. When you accept a job they tell you what they need covered and if you can't do don't say you can then later on say you can because that creates a big issue and when people do that to me I let them go and find another person. I have a zero tolerance policy. |

Rep Power: 20 | Re: Work Hours I am basically at my salon 24/7 with the exceptions of a day here or there I may take off and have family cover for me. I have 4 employees, 1 still in training, but I can only leave 1 right now by herself. During the school year, my employees only worked the evening shifts, but since summer is here I am playing next week by ear to see what times I need to schedule my employees.

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Work Hours I'm the manager of 1 of 4 salons owned by one person. We currently have 2 'general managers' that each manage 2 stores overall with store managers in each location all the time. We're having a major problem with scheduling right now. Our hours are Mon-Fri 8-10, Sat 8-8 & Sun 9-6. We currently have 9 employees. We shouldn't have any problems filling the schedule, however, the general manager hired people with crazy availabilties. 2 girls can only works weekday opening shifts and only want 15-20 hours each. Another girl's availability changes every other day. 3 are in high school and you know how that goes.. they complain when they don't get hours and complain when they get too many. There is no happy medium. The other girl is a grad student that only works 1 or 2 days a week. Anyway, long story short... they won't allow us to give the girls set schedules and me.. the manager I'm getting stuck working the worst shifts ever because the I'm stuck working around everyone elses crazy scheduling demands. I've gone to my general manager and she keeps giving this bull that there is nothing she can do... I know.. hire people who want to freakin' work and don't have 2 other jobs or are involved in activities that constrain their availability! We also are having issues with call offs and nobody wants to fill in because.. they worked the night before and are gettng burnt out. We need at least 3 solid people that want to work at least 25 hours a week to run smoothly. Upper management & owners just aren't getting it. It's frustrating me and the other managers to the point where we're looking elsewhere for employment! |
