Twice in about a week I have been told by my employees that they love to watch me wait on employees. They pick up some good points every time. Since I have alot of new employees right now I have now started waiting on 3 or 4 every single time I set foot in one of the salons. One told me she is going to mock me because she liked how I said stuff so well......OMG, 25 Teresa's sitting there BSing with clients.

maybe you mean by "imitating" others?

Role modeling is a great way to show employees how to service customers. I remember back when I was a new-hire, I felt funny saying some of the things I was taught in training classes. I felt really self-conscious about it all. But after watching managers and other experienced staff say those very things, I felt more comfortable mimicing their behaviors and comments.

Take a few minutes from each shift to assist customers. You may not realize it, but your employees are watching you and LEARNING.

Never really realized it was so benificial to them and it takes me just a few minutes a day. Took an employee to make me realize this, now it is going to become a habit.

think about it... employees want to be successful with customers. Less experienced staff members feel less confident selling things... you are the "expert" and a veteran at sales. They see how YOU do it and how YOU say things and they store it away in their minds. Then you become their model for good "sales" behavior.
