FYI To Ask Don's Army:

We can only hope that Wolfgang Koenig, head of Germany's Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) was misquoted by Reuters News Service.

If not, German tanning salons have a rough road ahead of them!

Mr. Koenig, referring to the new "guidelines designed to make German tanning salons safer than they are now" was quoted as referring to "synthetic ultraviolet radiation" (evidently as opposed to "natural" UVR)!

DUH! Someone in Germany needs to QUICKLY explain to Mr. Koenig that UVR is UVR no matter whether it is produced by sunlight or a sunlamp!

The new German "guidelines" will require uniform standards for sunbeds, make mandatory regular inspections, mandate exposure schedules based upon the clients skin type/subtype and require a "shut off" switch that can be easily reached by the patron.

The meeting was attended by (1) dermatologists, (2) oncologists, (3) photobiologists, and (4) "an association of tanning bed manufacturers" but there WAS NO MENTION of any real, live tanning salon owners (who will be most affected by these new guidelines) attending this important meeting! [Note: Are tanning salon owners in Germany as apathetic as they are here in the USA? When will tanning salon owners EVER learn?]

All tanning machines should require a "shut off" switch that can be easily reached by the patron.

Its just common sense!

As to the rest,
Its the medical community wanting sole income from uvr.

What is the gov going to do for people that have to work outdoors?

How does this fit into the bigger picture?

Tents that block uvr?

Everybody knows that's real not fake UVR. Real UV can shine on us at any dose rate it feels like, since it must come from god and not from a synthetic lamp in the sky...
