Rep Power: 26 | Several salon owners have contacted me regarding writing and posting an article on the new "TanTalk Magazine" and their "concern" is about their "fear" of posting something that isn't "professional" enough. That is a valid (and understandable) fear that every new author has with his first few efforts. No one wants to make a fool of themselves! However, I will work with you to make sure that your article is "cleaned up" before it is posted. Here is what you should do: 1. Write a "rough draft" of your article, focusing on "content" and not the "structure" of the article. Try to keep your first "try" to approximately one page (about 1200 words). 2. E-mail (reyksmith@aol.com) me a copy of the article (preferably in Word 2000 or pdf or you can "cut and paste") and I will "proof" it for you and make suggestions about how it can be improved. 3. After YOU are satisfied, we will post it on TanTalk Magazine. Remember, your EXPERIENCE counts for more than writing talent. People are looking for "real world" things that can help them run a more profitable and professional salon. Call me (1-520-975-0180 - Mobile) if you want to talk about your ideas for articles. Finally, as you will learn, there is a TREMEDOUS amount of satisfaction that comes from writing and publishing an article that helps your peers! Don "The Writers Friend" Smith |

Rep Power: 23 | Don, Do you ever sleep? It is so cool that you have taken on one more thing to help this industry, but where do you find the time? I'm thinking that you need to post on time manegement and "Feeling great while spreading yourself thin" I truly admire and appreciate what you do and the info. that you offer us. Do we say that enough? shallee |
