I had three part-time employees at the same salon quit.....did I do something????? They all have different reasons so I think it was just a coincedence. One got a different "real job" and is going to have VERY limited availablity, one is going off to college and wanted a couple of weeks off before that, and the last ones mother is having hip replacement surgery and will be living with her for awhile. I was starting to get that "am I a bad boss?" coimplex for a minute.
So now hire, train, hire, train.....yuk

Don't worry Teresa, I'm sure it's not you! I hate to hire and train, I like the staff I have and do not want new people! I know this sounds bad but I think it is probably a trust issue more than anything else. It's hard to bring new people in and trust them in your place when you don't really know them....the nature of business I guess.

A mutiny !

They made you walk the plank.

The jobs tanning salons can provide are not careers , you can't pay well, not benefits, and crapy hours, no pension, so you will always have a big turnover.

Interviewing and hiring and firing are ****.
Its the worst part of owning a business.

Your staff will never be your friend or care about you business like you do.

You are right Chipp, it wasn't going to be a career for any of them. But one quit about 3-4 weeks before I had figured she was leaving, one had been with us for nearly 2 years and realy did care but got a promotion in her real career, and the other no big deal...buh-bye.
I did have one employee who wanted to transfer to the now nearly vacant salon and so that will help spread out the experience and inexperience.
I still have 2 more that are going to go off to college but they have assured me they are staying until the end of August.
