How successful are coupon mailouts? - tanTALK

I've been contacted by a mailout company that sends various coupons to many addresses in the area. Has anyone used this & was it a success in bringing in business?

Is this better than discounting tanning packages by making them have a coupon or is this really the same thing?

We did this once and received absolutely no response.

But, I wouldn't discount the idea completely. I think it depends on your location and the type of clientele you are trying to reach.

We've only had luck with Val-Pak and that was only IN SEASON. We've found that any advertsing off season (that we have to pay for) is a waste.

I agree with vip ( I am a poet and didnt know it ) val pak is the way to go, worked very well for me..
But not advertising of season ? I have to disagree I am advertising right now, summer specials of course, get them in as often as you can, I also reward my customers with discounts or lotion samples during off season, KEEP THEM HAPPY !

We did a coupon on the back of register reciepts at the major super market in our area. The response was small but I expected that. Marketing 101 basic rule is that people have to see your message 3 times before a resonable response is atained. Even then if you get 2% you are doing very good. We are new and my main goal was to get our name out. It has help very much.

The only one that did was one that gave 3 free sessions!! Its cost us more then we made.

We never use mailers now.

Helios tracks "How did you hear about us"
You will find very fast what works.

Its location, location, location, price, then if you have something the other salons around you don't have.

We do money mailer coupons and they seem to work pretty good. We also do direct mail with Maillink to our current clients and that seems to work real well for us, keeps them coming back.
