Rep Power: 23 | So, I'm pinching peaches and squeezing plums as one of my clients walks up to me in my local Acme to introduce me to her hubby. I am my normal "Laurie" self... no different there as I am at work. "Are you guys busy today?" I reply, "No, not at all... you should stop by if you have a chance. And don't forget to check out the new lotions I brought in for summer." It doesn't stop there... onto frozen foods as I am caught red handed drooling over the Ben & Jerry's Cows. "Hey Laurie what are you doing today?" I think, "Besides getting wider?" I reply, "Not much, just came from the salon... they're not busy at all, you should stop up if you have time to tan. Check out the new lotions I just got in, Rose will show them to you." Both stopped up and tanned. On the way to the parking lot, two more tanners, same routine. Am I the only one who does this? Not only does it NOT bother me, it pleases me that there are so many faces that not only I recognize, but that they recognize me and are genuinely happy to see me. They are happy enough that they eagerly introduce me to family members. I've even begun to hear "This is the lady from the tanning salon, the one I told you about." |

Rep Power: 23 | hahaha, I get that too.... only it's "Hi Ms. Njchica!!!!" and I turn around to see one or two of my students. Inevitably, they introduce me to their parents. "This is the cool teacher who has the snake and the tree frog that barks like a dog." At which point I smile and remind them that they have a homework assignment or a big project coming up, right in front of their parents. I always find some reason to praise them to their parents as well. Yesterday I was at Home Depot with my sister and we both turned around when we heard our name. hehehehe I think when you love your job and you're dedicated to your work, it doesn't stop when you leave the building or punch out for the day. |

Rep Power: 25 | I get this all of the time too. Seems everywhere I go everybody is saying Hi!! The other day as I was buzzing through the grocery store another gal about my age said hi to me and I give her one of those, "hi, how are you's" and kept going. Got through the checkout when I realized that wasn't one of my tanners it was a gal that I went to high school with that I had not seen for years, and because I now live about 45 minutes from where I went to school and I had a graduating class of only 97 that just doesn't happen. I have my class reunion in a few weeks(yep I think 5 years,ok,ok 20), I hope she will be there so I can apologize, I feel like such a heel!!! But it makes me feel good when clients speak to me outside of the salon. I guess I've made a lasting impression. |
