Rep Power: 0 | Has anyone ever had an inspector come in and give you a serious problem??? What, and what happened. Here in Canada, I've never heard of one incident and I've been in the business for 17 years. The situation may change now with the pending new regulations so I'd really like to know what happens. Rep Power: 26 | Mori: What I have learned from dealing with regulatory agency inspections over the past 30+ years is (1) to conduct your business in a way that you are ready for an inspection 24/365, (2) to understand that MOST inspectors will try find SOMETHING to write you up about and so you should make sure that that "something" is something trivial, and, (3) to "use" the potential for having an inspection to "fine tune" your salon. Inspectors have their "job" to do just like we do and, IMHO, the two groups who are out "where the rubber meets the road" regarding protecting the tanning public are (1) tanning salon owners, and, (2) city/county/state/province/federal inspectors. Tamar is correct. If you are running your salon the right way, the inspector will know it the minute they start the inspection and they will "commend" you for running your business correctly before they leave. They are looking for the "lowest common denominator" salons. If there is interest, I will "post" a "check list" of the things we do to make sure that we are ready for an inspection 24/365. Don |

Rep Power: 25 | They are usually very professional, yet helpful. If they find something wrong, they will give you a chance to fix it. The biggest problem is if they were to "detain" (Tag) a "Device" (bed) for lamps/Acrylics etc. Should that happen, you can not use the unit until you have corrected the problem and they have a chance (sometimes days) to come by to confirm it so they can release the device. This results in lost revenues, so best advise... don't take shortcuts or bend the rules yourself and they will leave you alone and look for the others that are breaking the rules. |

Rep Power: 0 | Yes we had a visit 2 weeks ago. The inspector had one complaint (always one complaint must keep the job you know)There was a crack in the vinyl cover on a head rest. $20 later we are now legal again. You want to see inspectors? open up a food facility, You get all 3 levels of the beauracrats and they all want to compain about something (they want to keep their job too)so if all the inspecters are just making sure that the industy is known as clean and safe instead of a place where you go to pick up some foot or skin problem it is not a bad thing is it? on the other hand ??
