Rep Power: 23 | Is there a polite way to ask a customer this question? We had a lady come in yesterday afternoon, looking about 6 months pregnant. How do you politely ask someone? We tried to hint around to see if she would talk about it. She just signed back up about 3 weeks ago. So, it's been about 10 months since the last time she tanned with us. I'm kind of hoping that she just had a baby and just hasn't lost the baby weight yet. I've seen people assume that someone is pregnant and ask the person when they are due, causing them to be completely offended. I didn't really care to go this route. Help me????? |

Rep Power: 23 | Tangirl On our client cards there is a place that asks, if female are you pregnant. But that unfortunately won't help unless they are just signing up. I'm not sure if there really is a delicate way to ask. Like Chipp says the major concern is heat. But there are liability reasons too. We require a doctors note to tan while pregnant. And I really doubt many doctors will Ok that. Mine wouldn't and I followed the same policy that I have set for our clients. Blake is 7 weeks old and I still am rarely able to tan!!! Cutiepup |

Rep Power: 23 | We require a doctor's note also. That's why I would like to ask. But, I really don't want to offend her if she just had the baby or just looks pregnant. I really don't want to take the chance of her tanning if she is pregnant without a doctor's ok. |

Rep Power: 23 | TanGirl, Why don't you try posting signs in the rooms. Stating your that "A doctors note is required etc....It is your responsiblity to inform us yadd, yadda, yadda." Please don't forget to mention that tanning while pregnant Smart Tan Info... Don't want to scare off people trying to get pregnant. I hope this helps.. I would just ask her, but the signs may help. Rep Power: 23 | VIP - TX does not have any particular state regulations regarding tanning pregnant women. But, coming from a legal background, I prefer to remain on the cautious side. If they want to tan while pregnant I'm ok with it, as long as they are willing to provide me with a doctor's note. I would not want the responsibility of someone coming and stating that they are suing me because they had a miscarriage from tanning. I realize that this scenario is a little far fetched. But, you would be amazed at what people will sue over these days. |

Rep Power: 24 | May I suggest you say this if you are in question..If she is or she isn't.. Mary (or whatever her name is). We are in the process of updating our client records. Let's go ahead and print you out another release and well...you know the drill and just start going through the precautions etc... this way when you get to the if your pregnant or planning on getting pregnant part it's just like a part of the process.. I asked a woman once who was holding a baby.. Oh how sweet.. is that your grand daughter... and I thought she was going to spit in my face.. she said NO THIS IS MY DAUGHTER.. Lord she looked 65 years old.. Scared the pants off me.. Who knew????? |
