Rep Power: 0 | In an ever expanding world or technology, salon owners are finally getting their hands on equipment to better manage and maintain their businesses. Everyday more and more products come out to make the business owner's life a little easier. What kind of technology are you using in your salons? Are you taking full advantage of business software packages and systems in your salon? One example of new technology is Solarsoft's Salon Net system. Salon Net allows an owner to maintain their data between more than one store giving their business power through high-tech reports and data-transfers. No longer will you have to go to each of your stores to update sales codes, inventory and employee data. If you are using technology in your salon, speak out and tell us what your using and how its working for you! More owners need to realize the potential of technology in their salon and how it can work for them and help their business grow. Sandollar Tanning Resorts has in each store a flat-screen monitor with graphic animations showing the current specials and the different featured equipment. These screen are updated through one server so that all stores update at the same time! They have been a very successful point-of-sale medium for Sandollar. Tell us about your high-tech salon! |

Rep Power: 28 | I only have one salon so I don't have the need for solar soft. I am using Sunease tanning program. Not very good at all the reports just yet, too busy to learn. But I do like it. Before the tanning program, I used QuickBooks for sales and accounting along with the old card file. So glad to dump the card system. |

Rep Power: 0 | We just put up our Report Showcase at www.gosolarsoft.com to show off some of the information you can get out of the data you already have, whether you have one store or many. At Sandollar, we just upgraded every store to new Compaq Evo computers with XP. Each and every salon now runs XP and Helios 9.2.5 and Salon Net 2.2. _________________ John Cole [ This Message was edited by: jcole on 2002-04-03 16:16 ] |

Rep Power: 0 | Oh and one small point on the report on the showcase, the most complex report took 15 seconds to run I've talked to a lot of people who spend hours figuring out commisions or getting their EFT's ready. It's really nice to be able to do that in under a minute! |

Rep Power: 23 | Fo all those salon owners that have invested in computer hardware and software to manage your salon, do not forget two important items. 1. A fast reliable tape backup or a large capacity Zip drive. I often recommend a DAT or DLT tape drive because swapping a bunch of zip disks gets old, real fast. Backup the entire system once you first install it. Then do incremental backups everyday and a full backup once a week. There are two kinds of people, "those that backup and those that will.. 2. If you don't have one purchase a Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) that will safely protect your system from surges, brownouts and thunderstorms. If you can afford a model to support 1500 watts or more, you can protect your computer, printer, and all POS equipment, plus if the power fails you can run the system for up to 15 minutes (depending on the total load factor) and do a shutdown without harming your precious data. Just my 02 cents worth... |

Rep Power: 24 | We have a new computer with windows xp pro and helios 9.4.0. We do back ups with a cd burnner as well as a zip drive. what ever mood we are in We back up every night. We have a ups and it has saved our data many times. We have sonigue mp3 player on our computer as well as mixmister software and play mp3 music mixes to all out booths. Clients always ask what mix we were playing...we say our own! They call ua DJs and want to know how we do such perfect mixes...the software does it all We also use voice control for the windows media player if we are using that for music, noise dosen't seen to bother recognition in it, we can even tell it what song and what artist. We also use voice recognition for writting letters , this is done when the salon is quiet. We tried voice recognition to enter new clients info in to helios, but the voice sofware was not good with names. The computer takes this all in stride with out a glitch...thank you intel! faster better. _________________ Tanning Booths, for people that want only the very best.
