Rep Power: 25 | It seems the Apartments will do just about anything to get Tenants these days! Did you know if Apartments have tanning beds that they let their tenants use free of charge, the Apartments need to follow the same state Health code that YOU have to comply to ??!! For THEIR tenents safety, confirm that THEY are licenced by the state. YOUR -future- clients will thank you. YOU are a professional in THIS business. YOU can do the tanning, and THEY can manage their property. I don't want to be a whistle blower, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do! Does anyone have any comments? |

Rep Power: 24 | I am so GLAD you posted this.. We were shocked out of our minds seeing that 3 apartment complexs in our area offer FREE tanning to their renters.(this is most recent from what I have been told) What is up with this? Sunlake Apts. advertised this weekend.. Come Live with us.. 24 hours a day of FUN and SUN.. When we called for info they explained.."You get a key to the tanning room"!!! What is to say a renter doesn't go in 4 times a day!! Middle of the night sessions??? I am going to call Jim Collins our inspector and see what he has to say! Maybe they are getting away with it because the people live there..so they are like co-owners of the bed? Is it looked upon as an in home unit??? Lets find out What the deal is! Chris |

Rep Power: 23 | Wow that sounds scary! My boyfriends aunt just built a brand new apartment community down the street from me and I am glad she chose not to put a bed in there... she is a good customer of mine! I made a deal with her for her new tenant hand outs and she purchased from me reduced priced certificates to give to new each tenant for some free tanning to help promote my establishment. I think they should be strict if not more strict with that type of senario! How are you to know if the kids get ahold of the key and start putting thier friends and such in... does not sound too safe! Please let us know what you find out! |

Rep Power: 25 | I do not know of any apartment complexes in my area that have tanning beds. But I do put a coupon in new tenant packages for a couple of complexes and that does seem to work for getting "new to the area" people that don't know where to go. The complex doesn't charge anything for the advertising so it definately shows rewards. |

Rep Power: 25 | Chris- You go girl! I've checked the legalities, and it is confirmed, they are NOT EXEMPT from the state code, no matter what the trade off is. When they come to MY salon to buy their eyewear, lotions, and BED CLEANER, I feel it may be my responsibility to get involved. I fear for the safety of the uninformed. |

Rep Power: 23 | Texas is very strict on the 24 hour rule, eye protection, and (I'm pretty sure) having the controls outside of the room. If the apartments must follow the same code, then how can these things be kept up with? Does the apartment blds. offer lotions, skin care advice, or eye protection? shallee |

Rep Power: 24 | I am going to go see Jim Collins face to face (He is our inspector) I will keep you posted as to what I find out.. I also have a GYM in the same plaza as I am..he has just put in 6 beds.. CALtan lotion and Emerald Bay.. My mom always said " Chris.. when they copy you it is the best form of flattery"! My mom was a doll..but lived in La La Land 24/7.. Where everything was wonderful..and a bad day ment she broke a nail.. God I loved that lady.. anyway... Well......... I look at it as COMPETITION... and as some of you well know I LOVE COMPETITION!!! It seems to bring out the best in me.. I see no certifications hanging up in the gym either.. but I see alot of LOTIONS... As far as the apartments go.. I'm going over to see what it is all about.. How can this be? Then when I return from Ohio..I'm taking the inspector with me. I met a guy in Nashville..who told me he owned coin operation tanning facilities in Georgia and North Fla. (like a laundry mat type place). I know he was not kidding me.. How does he get away with that? I will find out how they are going about this whole thing.. Ya'll do the same on your end.. Chris |
