Rep Power: 23 | Do any of you advertise? If so how and what kind of feedback do you get from your advertising? I am looking into doing a newspaper ad but as of yet our salon has never advertised except word of mouth. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. |

Rep Power: 0 | I do my advertising on the movie screen in my local city. My ad is seen 1500+ times a mth. It has worked really well for me. Try to contact your local movie theater and see what they have to offer. Also you can look into running an ad in a yearbook at your local schools. Good Luck |

Rep Power: 23 | We do ads the high school newspapers. We also have a deal with the management offices of local apartment complexes. We put flyers in their new resident packages. We also put flyers on the resident doors once a month. We also have a deal with a gym in the shopping center next to us. |

Rep Power: 27 | By far Word of Mouth has been my best advertisment, Newspaper is second best. I also advertise in the local high school papers. That one is mainly just to help out the students but it does get me clients. I also sponser a volleyball team, actually my husband did this one for us. Also have an internet ad with the local newspaper for 25.00 per month that I can go in and make and change coupons. It really doesn't do well and I am pulling it out. |

Rep Power: 23 | RADIO! I find it works great for me but that is probably because we only have about half a dozen stations. Not sure how it would work in a bigger area. I recorded my own ads last year and people were so curious they would come in just to see who I was and say they heard me. I find newspaper ok, not quite as effective though. Word of mouth is great too though you don't really have much control over that! Stacey |

Rep Power: 0 | I advertised in my local newspaper for the first year I was in business. It didn't seem to be working for me, so I ran a ad for something like, bring this in for 5 free visits, just to see how many people really look at the ads. Guess how many brought it in? None. So needless to say, I haved not advertised anymore, in any media outlet. Mine is all word of mouth. But in bigger towns you'll probably need to do some form of advertising. Just have to try and see what works best for you. |

Rep Power: 23 | No no no... don't apologize. This is a very timely topic! I would also expect the trade publications to be coming out with some good articles in the next two months on advertising. It's the right time of year to be planning and discussing this. If I were to open now I would not have done newspaper. I would have done radio and I would have the biggest %$#@ sign that could be seen from every angle. LOL and I would also probably go to my local colleges, schools, etc. Plus I still love the bathroom stall idea. Everywhere I went in Nashville there was print ad on every bathroom door!!!! And I sat there (duh, I'm a girl) and read each one! (TMI, I know) _________________ Laurie@tantalk.com "Happy Holidays!"[ This Message was edited by: Bronze Star on 2001-12-12 21:43 ] |

Rep Power: 23 | I have looked into the high school newspapers because I have 2 in my city and 1 in the city next to us. Also, one of my employees has a relative that works at a radio station, it's AM but he said he will read a 60 second ad for me every night he works twice a night for free so of course I am all over that. Every little bit helps. |
