How many salons do monthly newsletters in their salon. We started this 4 months ago and the customers seem to really like it. It lists any specials, employee of the month, helpful hints for promoting or prolonging your tan, and Happy Birthday wishes for our tanners.

Are you mailing these or distributing them in salon? Seems like cost would be a factor to mail every month to all clients. We do an in-store monthly calendar that has several 'special' day sales on it. They like start asking for next month about the 25th of the current month.

I do one and customers love it. Lots of good info about lotion, funny tanning stories, tanning facts, etc. We do also include our specials for that month and if anything is happening with the salon, if we are featured in a mag somewhere or if we are sponsering an event we always mention that too.

A good idea to get people to read it is have a contest. One month I put a crossword in ours and then customers filled it out and gave it back and we drew one for a free bottle of lotion. They loved it!

It's cheap to do, I photocopy what I write up on to colored sheets with pics and everything and then leave them on the counter. At first people thought we were trying to sell them something but once it caught on, we can't keep it.

All of these are GREAT ideas.

Perhaps we should start a newsletter exchange among salon orders to help save some time in constantly coming up with new ideas.

We don't mail ours we just put themon the counter and the customers will yake one or read it in the salon, but they do enjoy it.

We sens out a monthly email newsletter. We started it about 5months ago, and everyone seems to love it, we are always getting compliments. We give them special deals if they mention the newsletter, and also tanning tips and recently put pictures from the Nashville show, to show them what it was like. Its a great way to interact one on one with the customers through email too.

I agree with TANtalize too!! An exchange between salons for ideas would be great! We currently do not have a newsletter but I think it is a great idea!
