Wondering if any of you have ever had this problem? I have an employee who works the evening shift. She is my top sales person, and my customers love her. She is never late, never calls in sick, but she sucks at cleaning! She does do a good job cleaning the tanning beds, but seems to overlook everything else. I've had plenty of talks with her, SHOWED her what needs to be done, done it myself in front of her, but nothing seems to work. I come in the next morning, and always have to go over everything! I really like this girl but I'm at my wits end. Our floors in our tanning rooms are cream colored tile and show every blob of lotion or hair that is on them. The thought of a customer going in a room like that makes me cringe, so all day I end up getting up from my nail clients to make sure they're clean!!! Any advice??????????

Try to get it through ONE more time. This time tell her this is her last chance to get it right. Start screening for new employee as she may not get it this time either. Until you get this taken care of, check your rooms first thing in the morning so you don't have to keep getting up from your nail clients. They may get the idea they are not as important to you as your tanning clients.

Make a list of what you expect to be cleaned and have her initial each task. Tell her that future raises, promotions, etc. will be based upon her continued improvement.

Yeah, Kathi, I do this also. They get a butt chewin if it is intialed and not done.

I would explain to what she is doing right and then what else she needs to get done as well in order to keep this job. Because that is what she is getting paid for. If she can't get it she never will. she is the weakest link, GOODBYE!!!
