Rep Power: 23 | Do you support a certain cause that is close to your heart? And, in doing so, do you get your salon involved? Tan for Cans Get people to donate non perishable food items for a free upgrade or regular session for newbies. Give the food to a homeless shelter or battered womens center. Warm Inside and Out Get people to donate clothing, coats, jackets, etc. for free upgrade or regular session for newbies. Give the articles to a homeless shelter or battered womens center. Sponsor a Family Find a family in need. Tell your members about your family and ask for donations or gifts for that family. Donations could be food, clothing, toys, etc. Make the family a part of your salon. You can find these families by going to your local post office around the holidays. Ask for letters addressed to Santa. The post office keeps these and they will normally let you see a few if you ask. Pick one that really touches you. Go to the parents and ask if you can adopt their family for the holidays. There are a ton of great causes out there. With the holiday season coming up, this is something to keep in mind. The holiday season is very hard on a lot of people, but with the recent terrorist events, this particular holiday will be even harder. As a country we must all stick together. Please support your friends, neighbors and even a total stranger in order to make it through this difficult period. |

Rep Power: 24 | We do a holiday food drive for Animal Shelters! They are very often forgotten around the holidays and it is very near and dear to my heart. Around mid November until Jan 1, we do a Tan for Cans, where people donate canned cat and dog food in exchange for tan coupons. They can then redeem X amount of the coupons for a free tan. We also put up an additional 'wish list' for the shelter such as *blankets *towels *plastic toys *bleach *litter etc. We also have a jar to donate $. Last year we raised about $300 in cash and close to 300 cans of food, not to mention the other items on the wish list. We also put out press release to anybody and everybody to get coverage for it! Free publicity and helping the animals too! Gotta love it! |
